Big Pig Canteen — 35 Ebden Street, Moorabbin VIC 3189
Big Pig Canteen is a restaurant rather than a bar, and it sits in Moorabbin, not Bentleigh East. AGFG tags it Romantic, and that tag is the only reason it earns a spot here: it is a sit-down table for two rather than a stool at a bar. Its site lists kitchen hours of 5pm to 8:30pm Wednesday to Thursday, 12pm to 9pm Friday to Saturday and 12pm to 8pm Sunday, so this is an earlier date. AGFG also ticks Live Music, but we could not find a gig listing, so ask before you book if you want a quiet talk.

This Moorabbin pub is the easy, low-stakes option when you want a drink and a feed without a big occasion. Its site says it would not be your local without a huge range of beer on tap, and it lists general opening hours of 10:00am - 04:00am every day. Its menu PDF lists Tuesday as Trivia Night in the Sports Bar and Thursday as Parma Night, so those nights come with a programme rather than a quiet room. Its main menu prints Sourdough Garlic Bread (V) at $10.50, a cheap thing to split while you settle in.

It is a cafe in Bentleigh, and its site lists Thursday and Friday hours of 7.00 AM - 9.00 PM, with Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday ending at 3.00 PM. Monday is listed as closed. Its site says it is fully licensed and no BYO, and its menu lists an Aperol Spritz. For a no-alcohol date its summer day menu PDF prints Iced Latte at $6.90, and its site calls it a pet-friendly cafe.
