None of the four names a roaster on the pages we read. So this guide sticks to what the menus do say: the coffee list, the brekkie worth the money, and whether you are going sweet or savoury.

1947 Cafe — 11/163 Boronia Road, Boronia VIC 3155
The one people search for by name. 1947 calls itself a Palestinian and Levantine cafe, and its menu says breakfast is served all day, with no eleven o’clock cut-off.
Sweet or savoury? The menu leans savoury. Manoush is a flatbread baked with a topping; the za’atar one is $4.00 and the musakhan, with sumac onions and chicken, is $10.00. The Big Bethlehem plate is $28.00: eggs, grilled sujuk, haloumi, labneh and bread. Sweet tooth? Knafeh is $15.00, cheese layered in shredded kataifi pastry and soaked in syrup.
Coffee is the usual list, with a small flat white at $5.50, plus an Arabic coffee pot with cardamom for $10.00. Its site lists Monday as closed, Tuesday to Friday 7 am to 3 pm and weekends 8 am to 4 pm, with free two-hour parking at the rear.

A family-run cafe that says it opened in 2021, during lockdown. The menu borrows from The Flintstones, so expect the Bamm Bamm Avocado ($17.90) and Slate Rock French Toast ($19.90).
Sweet or savoury? Go savoury here. The Royal Rumble Benedict is $23.50: slow-braised lamb on pumpkin sourdough with poached eggs, hollandaise, dukkah and mint. On weekends only, the Ceylon Big Breakfast is $22.50, a plate of spicy omelette, lentils, potato curry and coconut sambol on Ceylon flatbread.
A small flat white is $5.00 on its ordering page, or $5.50 for a regular. The menu also has a “Paw meal” section: chicken, rice and vegetables for pets is $6.50.

The donut range runs past the classics. There is a vegan line, including an original glaze donut at $4.95, and a gluten-free line at the same price. Buying for the office? A six-pack mystery pack is $26.99. The menu also lists bubble tea, milkshakes and hot pies.

An early starter. Lamby’s own website lists weekday opening at 5:30 am on one page and 5:45 am on another, and the pages disagree about Saturday, so ring before a weekend trip.
Sweet or savoury? Savoury, mostly. The all-day breakfast menu lists bacon and eggs on toast at $10, an egg, bacon and cheese roll at $7, and The BIG SHOW Brekkie, bacon and eggs with all five extras, at $18. Coffee is priced by size, from a small at $4.
One caution: those prices are from the menu page of a website that carries a 2023 copyright line, so they may have moved. Treat them as a guide and check at the counter.
