Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026.

Looking for sushi or Japanese food in Brighton? We could verify two places, both in Brighton, and that is the whole list. We would rather give you two we can stand behind than pad the page.

Each one was checked against its own website and the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG). Where a listing says takeaway or prints hours, we say whose listing it is, because owner-maintained directories can be out of date.

Sushi, for the record, is vinegared rice served with fillings or toppings. Neither source we read names a regional style, so we do not assign one.

The quick picks

If you’re afterHead toWhere
Sushi with hours listedKokoro Sushi39A Church Street, Brighton
Japanese, takeaway listedOushou Japanese Restaurant Brighton292 Bay St, Brighton

Kokoro Sushi — 39A Church Street, Brighton VIC 3186

Kokoro Sushi’s own site gives its Brighton address as 39a Church Street, and AGFG agrees. The site lists dine-in hours as Monday to Wednesday 11:00am-2:30pm and 5:00pm-8:30pm, then Thursday to Sunday 11:00am-8:30pm. AGFG lists Takeaway and Child Friendly; those are listing features, not our verdict. The site pages we read carry no recent date, so confirm the hours before you head over.

Decoder: Sushi is vinegared rice with a topping or filling, so when you read the menu, look for what sits on or inside the rice and ask which items are raw and which are cooked.

Oushou Japanese Restaurant Brighton — 292 Bay St, Brighton VIC 3186

Oushou’s own site lists a Brighton branch at 292 Bay St, and AGFG gives the same address. AGFG lists Takeaway for it, which is a listing feature rather than our finding. We have no hours line we can stand behind for this place, so we print none. We could not find a published menu price to quote either.

How to order: AGFG lists Takeaway, so check its site or call ahead to ask how pickup orders are taken and when it is open.

Quick answers

Where can I find sushi in Brighton?

Kokoro Sushi, at 39A Church Street, is one verified option, and its own site and AGFG both give that address. Oushou Japanese Restaurant Brighton, at 292 Bay St, is the other Japanese place we could confirm.

Which Brighton Japanese places do takeaway?

AGFG lists Takeaway for both Kokoro Sushi and Oushou Japanese Restaurant Brighton. These are listing features, so ask the venue how its takeaway orders work.

What are Kokoro Sushi’s opening hours in Brighton?

Kokoro Sushi’s site lists dine-in Monday to Wednesday 11:00am-2:30pm and 5:00pm-8:30pm, and Thursday to Sunday 11:00am-8:30pm. The site pages carry no recent date, so confirm with the venue.

Is there a sushi train or omakase in Brighton?

We could not find either format in the sources we read for Kokoro Sushi or Oushou Japanese Restaurant Brighton, so we make no claim about them. Check each venue’s own site or ask before you book.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites and the Australian Good Food Guide. We copied no menu prices from these places’ own pages, so this page prints none. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is illustrative, from Unsplash, and does not show any place on this page.
