Correction (1 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed twelve Italian restaurants in Camberwell that we could not find anywhere, with street addresses, seat counts and dish prices we could not stand behind, under a postcode (3138) that is not Camberwell’s. It has been rewritten from scratch. Every place below was checked against its own current website or menu and a second, independent listing on 1 October 2026.
Every Italian menu makes a claim, even when it says very little: the style is in the description, the oven is in the boast, and the price sits in the corner. Camberwell Junction has a good spread of them, from a wine bar that has been cooking for more than 25 years by its own count to a tiny Neapolitan-style pizzeria by the station, plus a fresh pasta stall in the market for nights when you would rather cook. Below, each place’s style is read off its own menu, any claims about dough, ovens or pasta are quoted as the venue makes them, and BYO is noted only where the venue states a policy. Menus move, so give them a squiz before you head out.

Italy 1 — 823 Burke Road, Camberwell VIC 3124
The grown-up option on Burke Road: an Italian restaurant and wine bar that says it offers “over 25 years of honest cooking” and opens Monday to Saturday from 12pm to late, with walk-ins welcome. The menu is classic trattoria territory done at restaurant prices: linguine marinara with mussels, clams, prawns, octopus and white fish is $54, osso buco (slow-braised veal shank, finished with gremolata, a sharp chopped mix of parsley, lemon zest and garlic) is $56, and a plainer spaghetti di campagna with roasted tomato and ricotta is $38. Note the menu’s own small print: a 10% weekend surcharge and 15% on public holidays.
Menu tells: “handmade pasta”, in the venue’s words, and a housemade gnocchi.
The classic: gnocchi “Caprese” with tomato sugo, mozzarella and basil, $42.

Con Noi Italian Trattoria — 259 Camberwell Road, Camberwell VIC 3124
Con Noi is Italian for “with us”, and this Camberwell Road trattoria opens Tuesday to Sunday: 8am to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm Tuesday to Friday, evenings only on the weekend. A trattoria sits a rung below a ristorante: a short menu, family cooking, pasta and pizza on the same page, and that is exactly how this one reads. Agnolotti (small folded filled pasta) come with burnt butter, sage, walnuts and pumpkin at $28.90, linguine marinara is $39.90, and the tiramisù it calls “The Con Noi classic” is $17.90. The site says the full menu changes daily, so treat these as the 1 October prices.
Menu tells: “pasta rolled fresh each morning”, and pizza described as “stone-baked, blistered and bubbling”.
The classic: margherita with homemade pizza sauce, mozzarella and basil, $23.90.

Boss Pizzeria — 25 Cookson Street, Camberwell VIC 3124
A small pizzeria “just across the road from Camberwell train station”, by its own description, open Wednesday to Sunday evenings. Its chef trained with the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in Naples, the body that sets the rules for true Neapolitan pizza, and the menu is grouped the old way: “From the Old Country” for the classics, then pizzas built on deli meats and on vegetables. The marinara (tomato, garlic, oregano and olive oil, no cheese, one of the oldest Neapolitan pizzas) is $24, and the house pizza, The Boss, with mascarpone, prosciutto San Daniele and rocket, is $35.
The style: Neapolitan, a soft, thin centre and a puffed, charred rim (the cornicione) from a very hot oven.
Menu tells: dough left “to rise for up to 48 hours” and a “hand-built traditional wood-fired oven at over 400 degrees Celsius”.
The classic: margherita with San Marzano tomato and mozzarella di bufala, $28.

Sofia Restaurant — 857 Burke Road, Camberwell VIC 3124
The family table of the list. Sofia calls itself “A Melbourne Institution Since 1969” and runs a big pizza and pasta house on Burke Road, open seven days, with gourmet and standard pizzas, calzone, and pastas from lasagne to tortellini and gnocchi. Two things set it apart from the others here: it describes itself as “100% Halal Certified”, and it lists gluten-free options on both pizza and seafood. Its menus are posted on its website as image-only PDFs rather than text, so we have not quoted prices; check the PDF or ring before you go.
Menu tells: pasta “Made Fresh Daily”.

Fiorelli — 209 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East VIC 3123
Strictly speaking this one is over the line: Fiorelli gives its address as Hawthorn East, on the Camberwell Road side of the Junction “across the road from the Rivoli Cinema”. It says it was established in 1991 and opens seven days from 11.30am, which makes it the easy pre-film pick. Homemade gnocchi with olives, basil and Napoli sauce is $28, spaghetti al ragù made with “a rich slow cooked eye fillet sauce” is $33, and the roasted half duck is $39.
The classic: the express lunch, a pasta or risotto with a glass of house wine for $29, every day from 11.30am to 3.30pm (not offered on peak days or for groups of 10 or more).

Fresh Pasta Shop — Shop 18A, Camberwell Fresh Food Market, 519-525 Riversdale Road, Camberwell VIC 3124
Not a restaurant: this is where you buy the pasta and cook it yourself. The market describes a family-owned stall that began at Prahran Market in 2002, now trading in the Camberwell Fresh Food Market next to Kingfisher Seafoods, with fridges of fresh pasta, sauces and ready-made meals. The named lines include pumpkin and ricotta ravioli, spinach and ricotta ravioli, beef lasagna and vegetable lasagna, plus freshly cut spaghetti, fettuccine and linguine, and the precinct listing adds gluten-free pasta. It trades Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. No prices are published online.
Verdict for: a weeknight pasta at home without making the dough yourself.

Sofia publishes its menus only as image-only PDFs, so no Sofia prices appear here. We confirmed each address at a second, independent source: the Camberwell Junction precinct directory, the Camberwell Fresh Food Market, or the Australian Good Food Guide. Fiorelli is listed under its own address in Hawthorn East. Prices change, surcharges apply on some days, and online prices can differ from what is charged on the night.
