This page answers the search for good Italian food near Carnegie, and it also takes over the searches that used to land on the older best Italian food page. It covers four sit-down restaurants: one on Koornang Road in Carnegie, two on Waverley Road in Malvern East and one on Poath Road in Murrumbeena.

La Bottega Trattoria — 120 Koornang Road, Carnegie VIC 3163
La Bottega Trattoria is the Carnegie address on this page, and its site describes Italian-inspired dishes for vegan and non-vegan guests alike. The home page lists opening 11:30 to 16:00 and 17:00 to 21:00 on most days, running to 21:30 on Friday and Saturday, while the menu page says the regular menu runs from 11 am to 10 pm everyday, so confirm before you go. The menu prints MARGHERITA V at $23 with fior di latte (fresh cow’s-milk mozzarella), tomato sauce, basil and E.V.O.O. (extra virgin olive oil). The site also says all pizzas are available on a homemade gluten-free base for an extra charge.

L’Olivo — 171 Waverley Road, Malvern East VIC 3145
L’Olivo is in Malvern East, outside Carnegie, and our checks found little beyond its location. Its own site and AGFG both give the address as Waverley Road, and this page prints no menu, prices or hours for it. AGFG tags it with child friendly, takeaway, delivery, vegetarian options, gluten free options, BYO and alfresco dining. Treat it as a listing worth a phone call rather than a menu we can describe.
Verdict for: anyone already heading along Waverley Road who wants AGFG’s BYO and alfresco tags confirmed with the restaurant.
Via Fratelli Woodfire Pizza Restaurant — 151 Waverley Road, Malvern East VIC 3145
Via Fratelli is on Waverley Road in Malvern East, and the name puts woodfire first, though the menu text we copied does not describe an oven. Its site prints two overlapping hours lines, an evening session of 05:00 pm to 09:00 pm and a Sunday afternoon session of 12:00 pm to 03:30 pm, so check before travelling. The menu prints Capricciosa (Napoli sauce, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms and olives) at $25. Napoli here means a tomato-based sauce, and the menu also prints Totti, with salami, capsicum, olives and bocconcini, at $26.

Ciccio’s is on Poath Road in Murrumbeena, and its site calls it a family-friendly, local pizzeria restaurant. It describes woodfired pizzas, homemade gnocchi (potato dumplings), pasta and desserts. AGFG tags it with takeaway, delivery, vegan options, vegetarian options, gluten free options and alfresco dining. We could not read hours or prices, so we print none.
