Correction (1 October 2026): an earlier version of this page recommended five Japanese restaurants, Sunny Post, Remy’s, River’s, Ava and Sparrow, with street addresses, opening hours, seat counts, dish prices and a “BYO on Tuesdays” tip. We could not find any of them in Caroline Springs. The page has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was checked on 1 October 2026 against its own website or ordering page, or, where it has none, its shopping centre’s directory, and every price was copied from the venue’s own menu.
This guide covers three Japanese kitchens in Caroline Springs, spread across the suburb, and each does a different job. An izakaya sits inside Springlake Shopping Centre on Caroline Springs Boulevard, an all-you-can-eat restaurant trades on Chisholm Drive, and a bento-and-sushi kitchen has its own shop on Commercial Road. For ramen, we point you to Watergardens in nearby Taylors Lakes.
This guide decodes each menu one line at a time, so a first-timer knows what will arrive. Prices below come from each restaurant’s own website or online ordering menu, which is the takeaway menu for two of them; dine-in prices can differ, so give the menu a squiz before you go.

Izakaya Rin — Shop A3, 1/7 Caroline Springs Blvd, Caroline Springs VIC 3023
Decoder: an izakaya is a Japanese pub-restaurant, where small plates come out to share alongside drinks rather than as one main each. Izakaya Rin’s own site puts it inside Springlake Shopping Centre and says it is open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday. On its online ordering menu, Sashimi Moriawase (“moriawase” means an assortment) is 12 pieces of assorted raw fish for $42, and Nigiri Moriawase is six pieces of assorted nigiri for $30. Edamame is $9, wagyu tataki (beef seared at the edges, sliced thin and served with house ponzu) is $26 for 50g, and Hotate Mentaiyaki is four grilled scallops with mushrooms and cod roe mayonnaise for $32.
How to order: the site runs weeknight specials. Wednesday is Izakaya Night from 5pm, with $7 Kirin, and Tuesday is Steak Night: $48 for a wagyu steak (M5) and a drink, while stock lasts. Its bottomless brunch on Saturdays and Sundays is by booking only.
Order this first: the Sashimi Moriawase, $42, because twelve pieces across several fish show what the kitchen does best before you commit to the hot dishes.
Okami Japanese Restaurant — 9/136 Chisholm Drive, Caroline Springs VIC 3023
The Caroline Springs branch of the Okami chain, and the all-you-can-eat option on this list. Menu says: adults are $42.80 a person, children aged 9 to 12 are $25.80, children aged 4 to 8 are $20.80, and under-4s eat free. Drinks are not included, and its store page describes hot dishes, cold dishes and sharing platters on the menu.
How to order: read the rules before you book, because they change how you order. All-you-can-eat bookings need at least two paying guests and run for a maximum of two hours. Uneaten food over 200g attracts a $15 wastage charge, so order a few plates at a time rather than the whole menu at once. Seniors aged 60 and over get 10% off with ID, BYO is wine and champagne only at $10 corkage a bottle, a 15% surcharge applies on public holidays, and the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
Order this first: the adult all-you-can-eat, $42.80, starting with a few cold and hot plates, then going back for what you liked.
Izumi — Shop 5/11 Commercial Rd, Caroline Springs VIC 3023
Izumi’s own website announces “The Legend Returns to Caroline Springs” and gives its address as Shop 5/11 Commercial Rd, with lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. The Good Food Guide still lists a Lake Street address; Izumi’s own site gives Commercial Road, so that is the one we use. Decoder: a bento is a boxed meal with several small dishes in one box. The Izumi Bento Box ($36) packs yakiniku beef, yakitori, sushi, salad, rice and miso soup; the Vegetarian Bento ($30) swaps in vegetable spring rolls, vegetable tempura and vegetable sushi rolls.
Menu says: takoyaki, six fried octopus balls with Japanese BBQ sauce, mayonnaise and bonito flakes, is $15. Okonomiyaki, a Japanese seafood pancake finished the same way, is $14, salmon sashimi is $22 for eight pieces, and chicken katsu curry is $28. The avocado roll ($12, ten pieces) is marked V and GF on the menu. Its homepage names a Spicy Miso Ramen among its favourites, but no ramen price was on the online ordering menu we read.
Order this first: the Izumi Bento Box, $36, because one box covers beef, chicken skewers, sushi and soup.
Ajisen Ramen — Shop R04A, Watergardens, 399 Melton Hwy, Taylors Lakes VIC 3038
Ajisen Ramen is in Watergardens, the shopping centre in nearby Taylors Lakes, not in Caroline Springs itself. It is here because no Caroline Springs menu we read gave a ramen price. We found no menu online, but the centre’s directory says it specialises in ramen in tonkotsu soup, “which is pork bone soup”. Decoder: tonkotsu is a broth made by boiling pork bones for hours until it turns cloudy and rich.
The website linked from its directory page did not load on 1 October 2026, so we have no menu or prices to give you. Watergardens lists it as open every day from 11:30am, until 8:30pm Monday to Wednesday and 9pm Thursday to Sunday.
Order this first: a tonkotsu bowl, the dish the centre says it specialises in. Check the price at the counter.

CS Square’s own store directory lists Mikado Sushi Train at Kiosk 7, 29-35 Lake Street, with the sushi train running from noon to 3pm Monday to Wednesday and noon to 4pm Thursday to Sunday. How to order: on a sushi train, plates pass you on a conveyor and you take what you want. We could not find a menu or a website for it, so it has no prices here and is not one of our picks.

Ajisen Ramen at Watergardens in Taylors Lakes specialises in tonkotsu ramen, according to the centre’s directory; it published no menu we could read. In Caroline Springs, Izumi’s homepage names a Spicy Miso Ramen, but its online ordering menu showed no ramen price on 1 October 2026.

On 1 October 2026 we read each restaurant’s own website and, where it has one, its online ordering menu, and copied every item and price exactly as printed. Izakaya Rin’s and Izumi’s prices come from their own Orderbuddy ordering pages, which are pickup menus; their PDF menus are image files we could not read as text, so dine-in prices may differ. Okami’s prices are from its Caroline Springs store page. We confirmed every address except Izumi’s at a second, independent source: OpenStreetMap, the Australian Good Food Guide or the Watergardens centre directory. Izumi’s current address is from its own website only; the Good Food Guide lists a Lake Street address. Mikado Sushi Train’s details are from the CS Square directory only. The five restaurants on the earlier version of this page did not appear in the Good Food Guide’s Caroline Springs Japanese listing, in OpenStreetMap or in the CS Square store directory.
