When a venue puts a marker on its menu, it is making a promise, so we pass on the markers and kitchen statements exactly as the venue or its listing publishes them and add nothing more. It covers seven places in and around Collingwood: two in Collingwood, three in Fitzroy and two in Fitzroy North.
Each entry says who is making the claim, whether that is the venue’s own site, the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) or another listing. Where a venue prints prices, we copied them; where it did not, we show no price.
None of this is a substitute for telling the kitchen about an allergy or coeliac disease. A listing tag such as gluten free options is not a statement about cross-contact, so each entry ends with one question to ask.

Friends of the Earth is at 312 Smith Street, Collingwood. AGFG tags it with Vegan Options, Vegetarian Options and Gluten Free Options, along with Breakfast, Takeaway and Child Friendly.
Those are listing tags, not a menu, and we did not find a published menu with dish-level markers. Treat the tags as a starting point for a conversation at the counter.
Ask: which dishes carry the vegan tag today, and whether the gluten free options are prepared separately from the rest.
The Horn — 20 Johnston Street, Collingwood VIC 3066
The Horn is at 20 Johnston Street, Collingwood, and describes itself as serving Ethiopian food. Its site says it has a large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, and AGFG tags it with Vegan Options and Vegetarian Options.
The menu prints TOMATO SALAD $12 and MISSAR WOT $25, wot being an Ethiopian stew, and we could not see vegan markers beside those prices, so confirm each dish. Its site lists Wednesday open 5:30pm till 10pm, Thursday to Saturday 5:30pm till late and Sunday 5:30pm till 10pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.
Kitchen statement: the venue’s own site says all meals are gluten-free, so ask how that is managed if you need it for medical reasons.
Vegie Bar — 380 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065
Vegie Bar is at 380 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Its site titles it a vegetarian and a vegan restaurant, and AGFG tags it with Vegan Options, Vegetarian Options and Gluten Free Options.
The site also says its pastry chefs make cakes, and that all of its cakes are 100% plant based. AGFG’s listing shows opening hours for every day of the week, so check the current times before you head over.
Fully plant-based or options: the site calls its cakes 100% plant based, but ask whether the whole menu is vegan or only marked dishes.
vege2go — 308 Queens Parade, Fitzroy North VIC 3068
vege2go is at 308 Queens Parade and is a place to collect or have meals delivered, not a sit-down restaurant. Its site describes vegetarian meals and vegan meals delivered across Melbourne.
The site lists Monday-Friday 9.30am to 6.00pm and Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm, and says it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. We copied no prices, so none are shown here.
Ask: which of the prepared meals are vegan rather than vegetarian, since the shop sells both.
Yeshi Ethiopian Restaurant — 328 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065
Yeshi Ethiopian Restaurant is at 328 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Its site says its main dishes include vegan and vegetable options as well as meat, and that it serves traditional Ethiopian dishes.
The only hours we found are an OpenStreetMap tag reading Monday and Tuesday 18:00 to 21:30 and Wednesday to Sunday 18:00 to 22:00. That tag may be out of date, so confirm with the restaurant. We copied no prices.
Ask: how the vegan dishes are marked, because we could not find printed markers on the site.
Citrus Restaurant — 252 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North VIC 3068
Citrus Restaurant is at 252 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North, and serves Sri Lankan food. AGFG tags it with Vegan Options, Vegetarian Options, Dairy Free Options and Gluten Free Options.
Its takeaway meals section prints Vegan Meal $15. AGFG lists it closed on Monday, and its other days are split into a lunch and a dinner session, so check the listing.

Masti is at 354-356 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, and serves Indian food. Its site says the menu is marked for vegetarian, vegan, vegan-option, gluten-free and dairy-free dishes, and that it makes a gluten-free vegan naan.
Its site prints Vegan Curry Night $30pp, described as rotating plant-based curries and vegan naan; it is a set night rather than an everyday dish, so check the site for when it runs. The site lists Monday closed, Tuesday to Thursday 5:00 to 9:30pm, Friday and Saturday 5:00 to 10:00pm and Sunday 5:00 to 9:30pm.

These are statements by the venues and listings, not guarantees for coeliacs, so ask the kitchen about preparation.
