A venue that prints a marker on its menu is making a promise, so we give the markers and statements word for word as published and go no further than that. It covers six places in and around Deer Park. Two are in Deer Park itself, Western Rolls and Cena. The other four are in neighbouring suburbs, and each heading carries the real suburb: Eating Station is in Ravenhall, La Roll Derrimut in Derrimut, Burger Road in Burnside and The Boardwalk Pizzeria in Caroline Springs.
For each place you get what is marked, where the marker comes from, and one question to ask. Several of the markers come from the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) feature list rather than the venue’s own site, and the entry says so. We read menus and listings. We do not review the food, and nothing here says a dish is safe for an allergy or for coeliac disease.

Western Rolls — 2B Burnside St, Deer Park VIC 3023
AGFG’s feature list for Western Rolls includes “Vegan Options”, “Vegetarian Options” and “Dairy Free Options”. Those tags come from the AGFG listing, not from the shop’s own site, and we have no vegan item named for it. The site lists the shop open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4:30pm and Saturday 7.30am to 4:30pm, and closed Sunday.
The online menu is shared with the family’s other shop, Western Pho, so the pho window runs 11:30am to 8:30pm, longer than the shop hours. Check the day you go. Rice Paper Rolls are $3.50 on the menu, and Bread Rolls are $9.00 – $11.00. The menu marks none of the items below as vegan, and it says all vermicelli dishes come with crispy pork crackling. Cena — 75a Mount Derrimut Road, Deer Park VIC 3023
Cena’s own site says: “We have a vegan cheese that can be substituted onto our pizzas, just make sure to ask our friendly staff.” That is a swap on a pizza, not a vegan menu. The Margherita is listed at $24.00 with tomato, mozzarella di bufala (buffalo-milk mozzarella) and basil, so the cheese is the part to ask about.
The menu lists vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free markers dish by dish, so read the marker on the dish you want. The site lists Monday as closed.
Kitchen statement: The site describes a vegan cheese substitution and tells you to ask staff, and we have no wider kitchen statement from it to quote.
Eating Station — 269 Robinsons Road, Ravenhall VIC 3023
AGFG lists Eating Station with “Vegan Options”, “Child Friendly”, “Alfresco Dining” and “Free Wifi”. That is all the vegan information we have: a feature tag on a listing, and we have no menu item named for it. We found no website for the cafe, and the DoorDash page we read carries estimated prices, so we print none.
AGFG lists the cafe’s hours as 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

La Roll Derrimut — Unit 12, 133 Elgar Road, Derrimut VIC 3026
This is the entry to read slowly. The Uber Eats listing marks two banh mi with (V): the Veggie Banh Mi at $9.90 and the Tofu Banh Mi at $12.00. The listing does not say what (V) stands for, so we read it as a vegetarian marker and do not claim either banh mi as vegan. Banh mi is a Vietnamese bread-roll sandwich.
The prices come from Uber Eats and can differ in store. AGFG is the source for hours, listing the shop Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and closed Saturday and Sunday.
Menu markers: The listing uses (V) on two items without defining it, so ask what it means and whether any item can be made fully plant-based.
Burger Road (Burnside) — Shop 8, 15-25 Westwood Drive, Burnside VIC 3023
Burger Road is in Burnside, a neighbouring suburb. AGFG’s feature list includes “Vegan Options”, “Vegetarian Options”, “Dairy Free Options” and “Gluten Free Options”. We have no vegan item named for it. The four burgers whose prices we copied are built on wagyu beef or southern fried chicken, per the menu.
The Burnside Hub food directory lists Burger Road open 11:00am to 9:00pm Monday to Wednesday and Sunday, and 11:00am to 10:00pm Thursday to Saturday. The menu prices are the online-ordering prices.
Ask: What does the “Vegan Options” tag mean on the burger menu, and is there a dedicated fryer?
The Boardwalk Pizzeria — Springlake Shopping Centre, 1-7 Caroline Springs Boulevard, Caroline Springs VIC 3023
The Boardwalk Pizzeria is in Caroline Springs. Its menu prints “VEGAN MOZZARELLA AVAILABLE* +4”, and its AGFG listing tags “Vegan Options”. The menu marks the margherita (V) at $25. A (V) is often used for vegetarian, so ask what it means on this menu. The other three items listed below carry no (V), and THE BOARDWALK lists pancetta. The site’s hours say the Cantina (breakfast and lunch) is open Thursday to Sunday, while the Cantina menu header says “EVERY DAY FROM 7.30am”, so check the days. Dine-in hours end “late”, with no closing time printed.
