MELBZ is free to read. This page explains how the site is paid for, and the rules we follow so that money never decides what we cover, how we rate it or what we recommend.
Advertising
We show display advertising through Google AdSense. Google chooses and serves the ads, not us, and advertisers have no say over our articles. Ads are kept visually separate from editorial content. Our Privacy Policy explains how AdSense uses cookies and how to opt out of personalised ads.
Sponsored articles
Some articles on MELBZ are paid for by a business. Every sponsored article:
- carries a Paid partnership with [business name] label above its headline;
- lives under /sp/, where we list every paid article and explain what the label means;
- carries no display advertising of its own.
Payment buys a labelled article. It does not buy a place in a ranking or a better rating.
Affiliate links
Some links on MELBZ may be affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, MELBZ may earn a small commission from the seller. It costs you nothing extra.
Affiliate commissions never decide coverage. We choose what to write about, how to rate it and where it sits in a list on its merits. Whether a link earns a commission plays no part in that decision.
What we don’t accept
We don’t accept payment for a place in a ranking, for a better rating or for a favourable review.
