Seven places for breakfast and brunch: four in Elsternwick, one in Elwood, one in Caulfield and one in Gardenvale. Some are cafes and some are restaurants that open early, so each entry says which source printed the hours or the tag.
Every place was matched against at least two sources. We copied menu prices for Goat House, The Elstern Social and Carter Lovett, and they appear exactly as printed. Pick sweet or savoury, then check the day, because hours differ.

Mandoline — 432 Glen Huntly Road, Elsternwick VIC 3185
Mandoline’s own site lists 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday, and 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Wednesday to Saturday. AGFG tags it with Breakfast, Takeaway, Child Friendly and Alfresco Dining. The address is 432 Glen Huntly Road.
Go for: A 7:00 am start any day of the week, per the hours its site lists.
Goat House — 272 Glen Huntly Rd, Elsternwick VIC 3185
Goat House’s site says “Open 7 Days Breakfast, lunch and dinner”. Its menu text also names a “Kids Breakfast Egg on Toast” for guests under 10. The lunch menu we copied lists a Croissant with ham, cheese and tomato at $14. The address is 272 Glen Huntly Road.

AGFG lists The Elstern Social with Breakfast, Takeaway, Child Friendly, Vegan Options and Alfresco Dining. Its menu lists Egg And Bacon Roll at $17. On the sweet side it lists Fruit Sourdough (V) at $9.50, and Tiramisu Iced Latte at $10. The address is 572 Glen Huntly Road.

Plain Sailing is in Elwood at 144 Ormond Road, a neighbouring suburb. Its site lists hours of 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 7:30am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday. The site has a menu line reading “coconut & cardamom yoghurt (VEG, N, VEGAN OPT)”. Its details may have changed, so check before you go.
Go for: A weekend brunch from 7:30am, then a plan to be done by 3pm per the listed hours.
Glicks Caulfield South — 447 Hawthorn Rd, Caulfield VIC 3162
AGFG tags Glicks Caulfield South with Breakfast and Takeaway. Its store page gives the address as 447 Hawthorn Rd, Caulfield South. We have not printed its hours, and its details may have changed, so check before you go.
