Correction (4 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 4 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Which bakeries and cake shops are around Fairfield, and what do they actually list? This page covers five places: four in Fairfield and one in Northcote. Pick a lane, savoury or sweet.

Only one of the five, A1 Bakery Fairfield, has a menu with prices we could copy. For the rest we say what the listings show and where we could not find a menu.

Each place was checked against two independent sources, including OpenStreetMap, the venue’s own site where there is one, and the Australian Good Food Guide.

Its site lists all day breakfast, Grab & Go and Cabbage Rolls (GF+VG). The site lists 7am to 4pm every day, while OpenStreetMap’s tag runs later, so confirm before you go.

On the menu (copied from a1bakeryfairfield.com.au on 4 October 2026):

  • Lamb Sambousek: $2.50
  • Lamb Kibbeh Balls: $3.50
  • Spanakopita (V): $11.50

Gusto Bakery Fairfield — 139A Station Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

Gusto Bakery’s site lists slices, biscuits, desserts, savouries, yeast raised and seasonal items. It prints Cheesecake – Marbled Chocolate Cheesecake (GF). The site lists Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday 8 am to 4 pm. We could not find prices on its pages.

The order: The Marbled Chocolate Cheesecake, which the site marks GF, and ask how it is made if gluten matters to you.

Tasty Banh Mi — 146B Station Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

Tasty Banh Mi is a listing-only entry: OpenStreetMap and AGFG both list it at 146B Station Street. AGFG tags it for takeaway, vegetarian options and disabled access. A banh mi is a Vietnamese baguette sandwich. We could not find a website, menu, hours or prices.

Go for: A banh mi, going by the name, but we could not find a menu, so ask what fillings are available.

Nikos Cakes (Fairfield cafe) — 254-256 Wingrove Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

Nikos Cakes has a Fairfield cafe on Wingrove Street. AGFG lists Monday to Thursday 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM, Friday and Saturday 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM and Sunday 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM, and OpenStreetMap’s tag is similar. AGFG tags it for breakfast, takeaway and alfresco dining. We could not find a menu or prices, and its own site gave no hours.

The order: The name says cakes, but we could not find a Fairfield menu, so look at what is on offer when you arrive.

Phil’s Bakehouse & Cafe — 72 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070

Phil’s Bakehouse & Cafe is a listing-only entry at 72 High Street, Northcote. AGFG lists Monday to Friday 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday closed. AGFG also tags it as child friendly, with takeaway and disabled access. We could not find a menu or prices.

Go for: An early start, going by AGFG’s listed hours, and check them with the shop first.
