Correction (4 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 4 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

This page answers a simple question: where can you find a market near Fairfield, and where can you buy fresh food on Station Street? It lists four places in and around Fairfield: three shops in Fairfield and one farmers market in Alphington.

Only one of the four is a market. We checked and found one verified market, so the other three are named for what they are, fresh-food shops, rather than padded into a longer market list.

Each place was checked against two independent sources, including OpenStreetMap, the places’ own sites and local guides. We print hours only where a named listing gives them, and the only price here is the market’s entry donation. We could not find prices for the shops.

Biviano & Sons (greengrocer) — 98-100 Station Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

The Fairfield Village guide says Biviano & Sons, at 98 Station Street, has been the Village greengrocer since 1968. The same guide asks, “Packing a picnic for the river instead?”, which is the reason a greengrocer sits on a market page. We could not find hours or prices for this shop, so we state neither.

What it is: A greengrocer, which means fruit and veg, and the Village guide’s own name for it is the Village greengrocer.

Oasis Fairfield (grocery, cafe and cooking school) — 92-96 Station Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

Oasis Fairfield is at 92-96 Station Street. The Fairfield Village guide lists a cafe, a gourmet grocery store, a large deli, a fresh food market, a cooking school and an event space. That guide gives hours of 8 am to 7 pm Sunday to Thursday, 8 am to 8 pm Friday and Saturday, and 9 am to 5 pm on public holidays, and it says to check with the store. We could not find a price list.

The move: Check the hours with the store before you go, as the Village guide itself advises, because the Oasis page we read carries none.

Harvest Foodstore & Cafe — 108 Station Street, Fairfield VIC 3078

Harvest Foodstore & Cafe is at 108 Station Street. OpenStreetMap lists Monday to Friday 07:30 to 18:00, Saturday 08:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 08:00 to 16:00, but AGFG shows slightly different closing times, so confirm before you go. Its site lists all day breakfast, daily lunch specials and something for the kids, and AGFG tags it for takeaway and alfresco dining. We could not find printed prices.

Cash or card: We could not find a payment note anywhere we looked, so ask when you order.

Alphington Farmers Market — 2 Wingrove Street, Alphington VIC 3078

Alphington Farmers Market is the one verified market here, at 2 Wingrove Street, Alphington, just outside Fairfield. Melbourne Farmers Markets lists it as open every Sunday, 9am to 1pm. The market’s page says that every week you will find fresh fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs and meats, olives and oil, honey, nuts and grains, dairy and cheeses, breads and pastries. It also says well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome and that free parking is at the train station carpark directly across from the market entry. Entry is by voluntary $2 donation (card only), per the market’s own page.

Listed prices (copied from marketsandfestivals.melbourne on 4 October 2026):

  • Entry: voluntary $2 donation (card only)

Market day: Melbourne Farmers Markets lists every Sunday, 9am to 1pm.

Quick answers

Is there a farmers market near Fairfield?

Yes, one we could verify: Alphington Farmers Market at 2 Wingrove Street, Alphington. Melbourne Farmers Markets lists it as open every Sunday, 9am to 1pm. It is the only market on this page, and the other three places are fresh-food shops on Station Street.

Where can I buy fresh food in Fairfield?

On Station Street, the Fairfield Village guide names Biviano & Sons as the Village greengrocer, and it lists a fresh food market among the features of Oasis Fairfield. Harvest Foodstore & Cafe also has foodstore in its name, but we could not find a published list of what it stocks.

What does it cost to get into Alphington Farmers Market?

The market’s page prints that entry is by voluntary $2 donation (card only) at Alphington Farmers Market. It also says free parking is available at the train station carpark directly across from the market entry.

Where can I get picnic supplies near Fairfield for the river?

The Fairfield Village guide asks “Packing a picnic for the river instead?” in its entry on Biviano & Sons, the greengrocer. The same guide lists a large deli at Oasis Fairfield, and AGFG tags Harvest Foodstore & Cafe for takeaway. We could not find prices for any of the three.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 4 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites, fairfieldvillage.com.au, the Australian Good Food Guide, marketsandfestivals.melbourne, onlymelbourne.com.au, melbourne-farmers-markets-mfm.myshopify.com and foodtree.com.au. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 4 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is from Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0), and it does not show any place on this page.
