Bakeries in and Around Hampton: Five Places Checked

Correction (3 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 3 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Five bakeries made this list, and they are not all equal on the record. Three are in Hampton: Éclair on Hampton Street, The Hamptons Bakery Cafe on the same street, and Thomas St Food Co on Thomas Street. Two are in Sandringham, the neighbouring suburb (the headings give each address).

Éclair has the clearest public record: its own site lists hours and a price list. The Hamptons Bakery Cafe and Thomas St Food Co publish prices too, though for breakfast dishes and take-home packs rather than the bread and pastry cabinet. The two Sandringham bakeries rest on listings, and each one says exactly how thin that is.

Éclair Boulangerie · Pâtisserie · Café — 275 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188

Éclair’s own site describes “Handmade French bread, pastry and pâtisserie, baked on site at 275 Hampton Street.” It lists Monday to Saturday 6:00am to 2:00pm and Sunday 7:00am to 2:00pm. The site also says “Click & collect” and “Dogs welcome”, and its menu prices the Chocolate Éclair at $8.90 and the Quiche Lorraine at $11.50. Sweet or savoury? The Pain au Chocolat is $7.30, the Sausage Roll $11.50.

On the menu (copied from eclairbakery.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • Croissant: $6.30
  • Tradition Baguette: $5.70
  • Sausage Roll: $11.50
  • Pain au Chocolat: $7.30

Laptop policy: the Australian Good Food Guide lists “Free Wifi” among its features, which is a listing tag, not a stated policy.

The Hamptons Bakery Cafe — 427 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188

The Hamptons Bakery Cafe’s own site lists “Open 7 Days 6:30am - 4pm” and describes “a particular focus on artisan bread and pastries”. The prices we copied are for breakfast dishes, not the pastry cabinet. They come from a menu file named for a winter menu in June, so they may have changed for spring. The site also lists “Vegan Muesli Treats”. It says it does not take bookings through its form, so plan on walking in.

On the menu (copied from thehamptonsbakery.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • The Hampton Breakfast Roll: $22
  • Eggs Your Way: $16
  • Steak & Eggs: $30
  • The Hampton Smashed Avo: $26

The order: The Hampton Smashed Avo, $26 on the menu we copied; Eggs Your Way is $16 if you want the cheaper plate.

Thomas St Food Co — 116a Thomas Street, Hampton VIC 3188

Thomas St Food Co’s own site calls it “now a takeaway food store with food, meals and coffee”, and says its house made pies have been “a local favourite for over 7 years”. The prices below are the take-home packs on its homepage, not single cafe items. The site lists Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.00pm, Saturday 7.30am to 2.00pm and Sunday 8.00am to 2.00pm. OpenStreetMap shows different hours, so the site’s are used here.

On the menu (copied from thomasstfoodco.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • Pies - 4 x Standard Size: $44.00
  • Pies - Family Size: $29.50
  • Chicken Nugget Pack: $17.00
  • Beef Lasagne - 3 Sizes: $25.00

Go for: the Pies - Family Size, $29.50 on the homepage; four standard-size pies are $44.00.

Brumby’s Bakery Sandringham — 52 Station Street, Sandringham VIC 3191

Brumby’s Bakery Sandringham is at 52 Station Street, Sandringham, per the Sandringham Village traders’ listing. OpenStreetMap tags it as a bakery and gives hours of Mo-Fr 06:50-18:00 and Sa,Su 07:05-16:30, with a check date of 2024-11-21. Those hours come from that one source and are old, so confirm them. We recorded no prices for it, so this entry quotes none.

Go for: a check of the current hours first, because the only hours we have were last checked on OpenStreetMap in 2024.

Lucky Star Bakehouse (Lucky Star Bakery) — 24 Waltham Street, Sandringham VIC 3191

Lucky Star is the thinnest entry. OpenStreetMap tags “Lucky Star Bakery” as a bakery at 24 Waltham Street, Sandringham, and the Sandringham Village traders’ directory lists “Lucky Star Café” at the same address. A third directory lists it as Lucky Star Bakehouse. We found no website, hours or menu of its own, so there are no hours or prices here, and its current trading status rests on the Sandringham Village listing.

The order: not enough on the record to name one, so confirm what is baked before you make the trip.

Quick answers

Which Hampton bakeries publish prices?

Éclair lists items such as the Croissant at $6.30 and the Tradition Baguette at $5.70. The Hamptons Bakery Cafe publishes breakfast dishes, and Thomas St Food Co publishes take-home pie and meal packs on its homepage.

Which of these opens earliest?

Éclair’s own site lists 6:00am Monday to Saturday and 7:00am on Sunday. The Hamptons Bakery Cafe’s site lists 6:30am daily. Brumby’s weekday hours on OpenStreetMap start at 06:50, but that listing was last checked in 2024.

Can I order ahead or click and collect?

Éclair’s site mentions “Click & collect”. Its site also says pastries must be ordered at least 24 hours ahead when you order ahead. Check the site for the current rules before you rely on either.

Are there bakeries in Sandringham, next to Hampton?

Two are listed here: Brumby’s Bakery Sandringham and Lucky Star. Both rest on listings rather than a menu of their own, so confirm hours before you go.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 3 October 2026: the places’ own websites, the Australian Good Food Guide, OpenStreetMap, sandringhamvillage.org.au and sandringham-vic.aussiestoresonline.com. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 3 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is illustrative, from Unsplash, and does not show any place on this page.
