The list is brief, and we would sooner admit that than stretch it with filler. Three places in and around Hampton had enough on the public record for us to stand behind them: two on Hampton Street in Hampton, and one on Bay Road in Sandringham, the next suburb over.
Only two of the three describe a beer garden or courtyard in their own words (Sebastian’s, and Rhythm & Tonic by way of a listing that reproduces the bar’s posts). The Hampton Hotel has a pet-friendly outdoor space instead. We have not been to any of them, so what follows is what each venue publishes, with the source named, and no word on how the beer tastes or who is out there on a Friday.

Sebastian’s Food & Wine — 301-303 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
Sebastian’s own site calls the place “a well known Hampton Bayside cafe/restaurant/beer garden with one of the best relaxed courtyards in Melbourne”. That is the venue’s own claim, not ours, but it is the only place in Hampton on this page that uses the words “beer garden” about itself.
The catch is the hours. The site says it is open seven days, Mon-Friday 7.00AM - 3.00PM, Sat 7.00AM-3.30PM and Sun 7.30AM-3.30PM, serving all day breakfast, lunch and coffee. At night the site talks about groups and private functions: it is “open to groups bookings at night for the footy”, with a “BEER GARDEN rain-free NIGHTS for groups” line. So treat this as a daytime courtyard that opens for group bookings after dark, not a pub garden you can walk into for an evening pot. Its site says “MENU COMING SOON”, so there are no prices.
Garden: The courtyard is the headline on the venue’s own site, but the evening use it describes is group bookings, so ring first if you are keen on a night session.
Hampton Hotel — 382 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
None of the pages we read on 3 October 2026 calls anything at the Hampton Hotel a beer garden, so we have not given it that tag. What the site does list is “A pet-friendly outdoor space” where you can “Bring your furry friend to our lovely outdoor space facing Small Street”. The Lawn is listed as a function space.
Trading hours on the site are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30am until late, and Sunday 11:30am-9pm. The site also lists a happy hour of “special prices on drinks from 3-6pm Monday-Friday and 3-5pm Saturday & Sunday”, so an arvo session has a listed window.
On food, the menu prints a Chicken Schnitzel at $28, a Chargrilled Burger at $28 and Fish & Chips at $29. The What’s On page lists a Tuesday night Parma with chips & salad at $22 from 5pm, and the page says the parma and steak specials need a drink purchase.

Rhythm & Tonic — 44 Bay Road, Sandringham VIC 3191
Rhythm & Tonic is in Sandringham, not Hampton, so treat it as the “around” part of this page. We found no website for it, so everything below comes from a findglocal listing that reproduces the bar’s own posts, plus OpenStreetMap and the Sandringham Village traders’ page for the address.
The listing describes “3 unique indoor spaces, games room & large private beer garden” and calls the bar “a cosy neighbourhood cocktail & live music bar”. “Private” is the listing’s word, so ask whether the garden is open to walk-ins before you go. The same listing prints “1/2 price cocktails from 6–9PM” in one of the bar’s dated posts; we did not record which night it runs, so ask the bar.
Hours on that third-party listing are Wednesday to Saturday 5pm - 11pm and Sunday 5pm - 10pm. They come from the listing, not the venue, so confirm before you make the trip. We could not read a menu or prices.
Go on a: The listing’s hours run Wednesday to Sunday, so pick one of those evenings and ask about the cocktail deal’s day when you call.

Is there a proper beer garden in Hampton?
In Hampton itself, only Sebastian’s describes one, and it does so in its own words, alongside daytime trading hours and nights for group bookings. A listing for Rhythm & Tonic in Sandringham mentions a “large private beer garden”. The Hampton Hotel has an outdoor space but its site does not use the words beer garden.
Where can I take a dog?
The Hampton Hotel’s site lists “A pet-friendly outdoor space” facing Small Street. We did not record a dog policy for Sebastian’s or Rhythm & Tonic, so ask before you bring one.
When is happy hour at the Hampton Hotel?
The Hampton Hotel’s site lists “special prices on drinks from 3-6pm Monday-Friday and 3-5pm Saturday & Sunday”. Check the pub’s site before you go, as these times can change.
Which of these is open in the evening?
The Hampton Hotel’s site lists Monday to Thursday until 10pm, Friday and Saturday until late and Sunday until 9pm. Rhythm & Tonic’s third-party listing runs Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm. Sebastian’s trades in the daytime and mentions nights for group bookings and private functions only.
