A good date-night pick is mostly about the stage you are at: how much talking the room will allow, what the bill looks like, and whether there is a plan B if the booking falls through. This page covers six sit-down restaurants, all on Hampton Street, Hampton, where either the venue’s own site or the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) points at dinner for two.
We have not been to any of them. What follows is what each venue and AGFG publish, with the source named every time, and with the gaps left visible. Where a menu was not readable as text, we say so instead of guessing at prices.

Butcher & Vine Hampton — 427 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
Butcher & Vine’s own site describes the place as “relaxed enough for a casual lunch, yet polished enough for a special night out”, which is the closest thing to a date-night line any venue on this page writes about itself. The same site lists “The Deck”, an outdoor area, and a Sport Bar with a pool table and live sports on the big screen.
The site gives trading hours as Mon-Sun, 12 PM - 10 PM, while AGFG lists a later closing time, so ring ahead if you are booking a late table. We could not read a menu as text on the venue’s site, so there are no prices here.
Talk-ability: A bar with live sports on the big screen is a reason to ask which part of the venue suits conversation when you book, and the deck is the other option the site lists.
A Taste of Siam — 485A Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
AGFG’s feature list for A Taste of Siam includes “Romantic”, “Alfresco Dining”, “BYO”, “Fully Licensed”, “Disabled Access” and “Vegan Options”. That is a useful mix for a date: it covers accessibility and the choice between bringing your own bottle or ordering one, though neither is a promise about how the evening feels.
AGFG lists dinner seven days: 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and 5:30 PM - 9:45 PM on Friday and Saturday. The venue’s own site only links PDF menus, and the item names and prices sat in separate columns, so we could not pair a dish with a price. The site’s menu navigation lists separate vegan dine-in and take-away menus.
Split or splurge: We could not read item prices, so check the PDF menu on the venue’s site before you decide which side of that line the night lands on.
Il Forno — 273A Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
Il Forno’s own site lists Monday closed and Tuesday to Sunday 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, which makes it a dinner-only booking and a no-go for a Monday plan. AGFG’s feature list for the restaurant includes “Romantic”, “Fully Licensed”, “Disabled Access” and “Vegan Options”.
The menu page on the venue’s site says “These are sample menus and are subject to change”, so we recorded no prices for it.
Stage: A later-stage dinner where you already know each other’s food rules suits it, because the sample menu may change and the vegan tag is AGFG’s, not the venue’s.
Roti Boti Indian Restaurant — 513 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
AGFG lists Roti Boti with “Romantic”, “Private Dining”, “Bar”, “BYO” and “Disabled Access” among its features. The venue’s own site describes a “Vegan, Gluten-Free & Vegetarian” offering and, for sharing, a “Shahi Vegetarian Platter (PERFECT FOR FAMILY)”, which tells you the menu is built for dishes in the middle of the table.
The contact block on its site reads “Dine-in 5.30pm to 10.30pm” and adds that the kitchen closes early, so call for the kitchen closing time. The home page says it is open Tuesdays to Sundays. Do not plan a late supper here.
The prices below come from the takeaway menu page, and dine-in prices may differ. A tandoor starter such as the chicken tikka, which its menu describes as chicken marinated with hung yoghurt and lemon and cooked in the tandoor, is a straightforward share for two.

Split or splurge: Share two starters from the takeaway-menu list above and the bill stays modest before you add a main, but confirm dine-in prices when you book.
Cafe Southall — 400 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
AGFG’s feature list for Cafe Southall includes “Alfresco Dining”, “BYO”, “Fully Licensed”, “Pet Friendly” and “Romantic”. The venue’s own site offers “Take Away”, which is the plan B if the table falls through.
We did not record opening hours. The venue’s own page is shared with another venue and its hours text is garbled, and it conflicts with AGFG’s listing, so call before you go. We could not read a menu with prices either.
Exit plan: If the evening fizzles, takeaway is on the venue’s own site, so the night can move to your couch instead of ending.
Fazio’s Pizzeria e Grill — 462 Hampton Street, Hampton VIC 3188
Fazio’s own site says it offers everything “From casual group gatherings to intimate date nights” and describes “pizzas from our wood-fired oven”. Hours on the site are Monday 4 pm – 10 pm with the kitchen running 5 pm – 9 pm, the same pattern from Wednesday to Sunday, and closed on Tuesday. Order takeaway is also an option on the site.
The menu page carries an older timestamp, so prices may have moved since it was published. Pasta lines show separate sizes and prices, so we only copied the single-price dishes. Its menu also lists a ribeye steak at $45 and a rack of lamb at $45 for a bigger night out.

Stage: A third-date-and-beyond dinner works well because the menu gives you a $10 bruschetta to start and a $36 slow cooked beef cheek if you want to splurge.
Quick answers
Which Hampton Street restaurants have a “Romantic” tag?
AGFG’s feature list includes “Romantic” for A Taste of Siam, Il Forno, Roti Boti Indian Restaurant and Cafe Southall. Fazio’s own site uses the words “intimate date nights”, and Butcher & Vine’s own site says “polished enough for a special night out”.
Which of these can I book for a Monday?
Il Forno’s own site lists Monday as closed. Fazio’s, Butcher & Vine and A Taste of Siam all list Monday trading in the hours we recorded (Butcher & Vine on its own site, Fazio’s on its own site and A Taste of Siam on AGFG). Roti Boti’s home page says Tuesdays to Sundays, and we recorded no hours for Cafe Southall.
Is there a place with outdoor seating?
Butcher & Vine’s own site lists “The Deck”, an outdoor area. AGFG lists “Alfresco Dining” for A Taste of Siam and Cafe Southall. None of these listings says anything about heating or cover, so ask when you book.
Which of these show prices?
Only two. Roti Boti’s takeaway menu starts at $12 for a Samosa (2pcs), and its dine-in prices may differ. Fazio’s menu starts at $10 for bruschetta, and a ribeye steak is $45. For the other four, we could not read prices as text.
