This is a short list, and we would rather say so. Two cafes had enough on the public record for us to stand behind them for brekkie in and around Ivanhoe: one on Lower Heidelberg Road in Ivanhoe, one on Heidelberg Road in Alphington, next door to the suburb.
Neither cafe had a menu we could read on its own pages, so there are no dish prices here. What we can give you is the address, the features the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) lists, and the one set of opening hours we are printing from a cafe’s own website.

Docasa — 59-61 Lower Heidelberg Road, Ivanhoe VIC 3079
Docasa’s own website gives its address as Lower Heidelberg Road in Ivanhoe, and AGFG’s map listing agrees. AGFG lists it with two features, “Child Friendly” and “Takeaway”. Those are ticked on the directory listing, so treat them as the listing’s words, not a promise from the cafe.
We are printing no opening hours for Docasa. The directory hours we recorded did not line up with each other, so check the cafe’s own site before you leave the house.
Go for: the takeaway option AGFG lists, if you want a coffee to carry rather than a table.
Fossette Cafe — 737 Heidelberg Rd, Alphington VIC 3078
Fossette is in Alphington, just over the line from Ivanhoe, so it belongs in an “in and around” list rather than an Ivanhoe one. Its own website gives the same address AGFG does.
The site’s opening hours read “Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM Saturday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM Sunday: Closed”. That makes it a weekday-and-Saturday morning stop. AGFG lists it as “Child Friendly”, “Takeaway” and “Alfresco Dining”.
Go for: the early start. Its own site lists weekday hours from 7:00 AM.

Docasa, at 59-61 Lower Heidelberg Road, is the one cafe in Ivanhoe itself that passed our checks. Fossette Cafe is just over the suburb line at 737 Heidelberg Rd, Alphington. Two is the honest count: other places did not have enough on the public record.
What time does Fossette Cafe open?
Its own website lists Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Hours can change, so check with the cafe on the day.
Where can I have breakfast on a Sunday?
Fossette’s own website lists Sunday as closed. We are not printing Docasa’s hours, so check the cafe’s own page or ring ahead for Sunday.
Are these cafes child friendly?
AGFG tags both Docasa and Fossette Cafe as “Child Friendly”. That is a directory feature, so it tells you the cafe says it welcomes kids, not what the seating or the high chair situation is like.
