Correction (2 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten, and every place below was checked against its own current information.

A Thai menu is easier than it looks once someone explains the format: a curry, a stir-fry and rice for the table, with noodle dishes such as pad thai working as a one-plate meal. This page decodes what we could read and says plainly what we could not. Two Thai kitchens cleared our checks near Kew: Thai Terrace on Pakington Street in Kew, and Fat Boy Thai Kitchen on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn. Neither gave us an own-menu price we could verify, so this page prints no prices.

The angle is weekday lunch and takeaway, and the short answer is that the two places differ: Thai Terrace lists dinner only, while Fat Boy Thai Kitchen lists a lunch session, with the days depending on which source you trust.

Thai Terrace — 164 Pakington Street, Kew VIC 3101

The Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) lists Thai Terrace as Thai, open 6:00 - 10:00 pm Tuesday to Sunday and closed Monday, and tags it “Child Friendly”, “Takeaway” and “Vegan Options”. OpenStreetMap lists it open seven nights, 6:00 - 10:00 pm, so ring ahead on a Monday. We could not find a working website of its own, so the dishes below come from its DoorDash store page, which is a delivery platform and not the venue’s own site. Menu says: the Pad See Ew is “Stir-fried flat ribbon noodles in sweet soy sauce with egg and your choice of protein”, the Pad Thai is “Stir-fried noodles with bean shoots and crushed peanuts, egg and your choice of protein”, and the Massaman is a “Mild curry with potatoes, onion and peanuts and your choice of protein”.

Decoder: pad see ew uses wide, flat rice noodles and a sweet soy sauce, while pad thai uses thinner rice noodles and peanuts. How to order: share a curry, a stir-fry and rice, or take a noodle dish as a single plate. Order this first: the Pad See Ew or the Pad Thai. DoorDash’s “Most Ordered” panel for the store lists the Roti Bread, served with a creamy peanut sauce, as the “#1 Best seller”, then the Pad See Ew as “#2” and the Pad Thai as “#3”, and both noodle dishes let you choose your protein.

Fat Boy Thai Kitchen — 791 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn VIC 3122

AGFG lists Fat Boy Thai Kitchen as Thai and tags it “Vegan Options”, “Takeaway” and “Child Friendly”. The two sources give different lunch hours. AGFG lists lunch 12:00 - 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 12:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday; the Glenferrie Traders Association lists lunch on Friday only, 12:00 - 2:45 pm. Friday is the one lunch session both agree on, so ring (03) 9818 7728 before you plan a Wednesday or weekend lunch. We did not get a menu for Fat Boy that we could verify, so there are no dishes or prices here.

How to order: ask which dishes are on at lunch. Order this first: we will not pick a dish from a menu we could not read.

Quick answers

Is there a Thai restaurant in Kew?

Thai Terrace at 164 Pakington Street, Kew is listed by AGFG as a Thai restaurant, open 6:00 - 10:00 pm Tuesday to Sunday and closed Monday.

Where can I get Thai food for lunch near Kew?

Fat Boy Thai Kitchen at 791 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn. AGFG lists lunch on Wednesday to Sunday and the Glenferrie Traders Association lists lunch on Friday only, so Friday, 12:00 pm to about 2:30 pm, is the safe bet; ring (03) 9818 7728 to confirm. Thai Terrace lists no lunch session.

AGFG tags Thai Terrace “Takeaway”, and it has a DoorDash store page for delivery orders.

Is there vegan Thai food near Kew?

How much is a pad thai in Kew?

We cannot give a verified price. Thai Terrace has no working website of its own that we could find, and we did not get a verifiable menu for Fat Boy Thai Kitchen. We have not printed delivery-app prices because they are not the venues’ own menu prices.

How we checked

On 2 October 2026 we read the AGFG listings for Thai Terrace and Fat Boy Thai Kitchen for hours and features, and confirmed Thai Terrace’s address at OpenStreetMap and Fat Boy’s at the Glenferrie Traders Association directory, which also gives its phone number and a second set of hours. Thai Terrace’s dish names and descriptions come from its DoorDash store page; we did not print any delivery-app prices. The two sources disagree about Fat Boy’s lunch, and we show both. The cover photo is an illustrative Unsplash photo of fried chicken with rice and noodles, not from either venue.
