Correction (9 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Four places made the cut, and only one of them is in Kilsyth proper. So this is breakfast in and around Kilsyth: a bakery on Mount Dandenong Road, two spots on Main Street in Croydon, and a cafe in Mooroolbark.

Sweet or savoury? That is the real question here. One place is mostly bread and pizza rolls, one is a cafe menu with bircher and eggs, and one has the lowest-priced egg dishes we copied. Each is built from its own site or the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG), never from a visit.

Allan’s Cakes & Bakery — 520 Mount Dandenong Road, Kilsyth VIC 3137

AGFG lists Allan’s with the tags ‘Breakfast’ and ‘Takeaway’, and says the cafe is at Shop 1 and 2 of the address above. That is the only Kilsyth entry on the page.

The bakery’s own site gives its hours as Monday to Friday 6:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday 7am to 5pm and Sunday 7am to 4pm. The items we copied are baked goods, not a cooked breakfast menu, so think of it as a grab-and-go stop. The pizza rolls are the savoury pick; the baguettes and sourdough are for taking home.

On the menu (copied from allanscakes.com.au on 9 October 2026):

  • Pizza Rolls - Hawaiian - Supreme: $5.50
  • Sourdough Light Rye: $8.50
  • French Baguette 340g: $5.00
  • Epi Baguette: $8.50

Go for: the pizza rolls at $5.50, the lowest-priced item we copied from the bakery.

Littorio’s — 168 Main Street, Croydon VIC 3136

Littorio’s is the brunch menu on this list. Its own site shows a customer comment, credited to Tom, that rates it as a breakfast place. That is one customer’s line on the cafe’s own page, not our verdict.

Sweet: the bircher muesli comes with berry compote and fresh strawberries, and the apricot date loaf is served with housemade strawberry jam and vanilla mascarpone. Savoury: eggs fried, poached or scrambled. Bircher, for the record, is oats soaked until soft, usually eaten cold. We have no opening hours for Littorio’s that we can state, and the pages we read carry no recent date, so check the menu and hours before you go.

On the menu (copied from littorioscafe.com.au/menu on 9 October 2026):

  • Bircher Muesli (V): $16
  • Eggs fried, poached or scrambled: $13
  • Cappuccino | Latte | Flat White: $5
  • Apricot Date Loaf (V): $11

Roaster: not stated on the pages we read. A cappuccino, latte or flat white is $5, and espresso, short macchiato or piccolo is $4.

MrT Deli — 93 Main Street, Croydon VIC 3136

MrT Deli’s own site gives its hours as Monday to Friday 7am to 2pm, Saturday 8am to 2pm and Sunday 9:30am to 2pm. That makes it an early-start option on weekdays, with later starts on the weekend. OpenStreetMap records different hours for the same address, so confirm before you head out.

We could not read a menu or any prices for MrT Deli, so there is nothing to order from here yet. It is on the page for its hours and its address, and nothing else.

Go for: a weekday start from 7am, if the hours on the site hold.

Manna Lane — 79B Brice Avenue, Mooroolbark VIC 3138

Manna Lane has the most AGFG tags of the four. AGFG lists it as ‘Breakfast’, ‘Child Friendly’, ‘Vegan Options’, ‘Alfresco Dining’, ‘Free Wifi’ and ‘Takeaway’. Those are listing features, so they are the listing’s words, not ours. We found no recent date on its menu page.

Savoury leads the menu we copied: an egg and bacon roll with bacon, fried egg and cheese plus your choice of relish, BBQ, ketchup, mayo, chilli or special sauce, and eggs your way, which is two pasture-fed eggs on sourdough. Sweet is French toast with fruit. Soldiers with poached egg is the lowest-priced egg dish we copied anywhere. We have no opening hours for Manna Lane, so check before travelling.

On the menu (copied from mannalane.com.au/menu.php on 9 October 2026):

  • Egg and bacon roll: $15
  • Eggs your way: $13
  • French toast with fruit: $9
  • Soldiers with poached egg: $8.50

Laptop policy: not stated, though AGFG tags the cafe ‘Free Wifi’.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: the places’ own websites, the Australian Good Food Guide and OpenStreetMap. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 9 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The photos are illustrative, from Unsplash: they show the kind of food or place, not the places on this page.
