Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Four places made the cut for brekkie, and none of them has a Lower Plenty address. Two are in Montmorency, on Were Street. Two are in Templestowe, on James Street. All four are close enough to count as “around” Lower Plenty.

What follows comes from listed hours, Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) tags and menus we could read. Where we found no breakfast price, the page says so and prints none. Pick your lane: early opener, all-day eggs, or a sit-down Italian that starts breakfast at 8:30am.

Stones Throw — 5 Were Street, Montmorency VIC 3094

The Australian Good Food Guide lists Stones Throw with a “Breakfast” tag, alongside “Vegan Options”, “Child Friendly”, “Pet Friendly”, “Takeaway” and “Alfresco Dining”. Those are AGFG listing features, not our verdict.

Its own site gives the hours: Monday to Friday 6.30am to 3.30pm, Saturday 7.30am to 2.30pm, and closed on Sunday. So this is a weekday and Saturday brekkie, not a Sunday one. We did not find a price list we could read, so there are no dollar figures here.

The order: AGFG’s tags point to breakfast and vegan options, so check the cafe’s own menu for which dishes carry them.

Cafe 130 — 130 James Street, Templestowe VIC 3106

Cafe 130’s own site says breakfast is “served all day every day”. Its listed hours are Monday to Saturday 6am to 2pm and Sunday 7am to 2pm, so Sunday breakfast is on its listed hours.

The menu PDF prints a short toast ladder. Sourdough toast is $8, fruit toast is $9 and eggs your way on toast is $12. The healthy breakfast is $20, the dearest of the four prices we copied. Sweet or savoury? The prices say the toast is the cheap lane.

On the menu (copied from cafe130.com.au/Menu-Cafe-130.pdf on 9 October 2026):

  • EGGS YOUR WAY ON TOAST: $12
  • SOURDOUGH TOAST(VE): $8
  • FRUIT TOAST (VE): $9
  • HEALTHY BREAKFAST(V): $20

The order: eggs your way on toast at $12 is the base-line breakfast on the menu we read.

Carluccis — 134 James Street, Templestowe VIC 3106

Carluccis is an Italian restaurant, and its site says: “We serve breakfast from 8:30am, lunch from 11:30 and our kitchen is open until 9pm.” It also lists “Open 7 days, 8am till late”. The site carries no date we could see, so check before you go.

The menu PDF we copied prices from lists the charcoal spit lamb gyros at $36, the truffle, parmesan and mushroom risotto at $31 and the Lasagne Bolognese or Vegetarian at $25. Those are not breakfast dishes, so read them as a guide to the price level, not as a brekkie bill.

On the menu (copied from carluccistemplestowe.com.au/Menu-Prices-Aug-2025_Carlucciscomau_.pdf on 9 October 2026):

  • Charcoal Spit Lamb Gyros: $36
  • Truffle, Parmesan & Mushroom Risotto (V) (GF) (VGO): $31
  • Lasagne Bolognese or Vegetarian: $25

Go for: a sit-down morning, with breakfast starting later than the cafes, at 8:30am.

Were Street Food Store — 30 Were Street, Montmorency VIC 3094

Were Street Food Store lists Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm and Saturday to Sunday 7am to 3pm on its own site. That ties with Cafe 130 for the earliest weekday start on this page. AGFG tags it “Child Friendly” and “Takeaway”.

We did not read a breakfast menu for it, so we can’t say what it serves in the morning. We did not copy a price list, so this page prints none.

Go for: an early start and a takeaway order, on the hours it publishes.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites and the Australian Good Food Guide. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 9 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The photos are illustrative, from Unsplash: they show the kind of food or place, not the places on this page.
