Three cafes. That is all we could verify for coffee in and around Lower Plenty, and we would rather print three than pad the list. None has a Lower Plenty address: all three are on Were Street in Montmorency, the neighbouring suburb.
All three are tagged “Takeaway” on the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG), which is the useful fact for a coffee run. Here is the catch: we have not recorded a roaster, a bean or a milk list for any of them. So this page sticks to what we can stand behind: addresses, listed hours where we have them, and AGFG tags.

Were Street Food Store — 30 Were Street, Montmorency VIC 3094
Its own site lists Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm and Saturday to Sunday 7am to 3pm. AGFG lists it with “Takeaway” and “Child Friendly” tags, which are listing features rather than our verdict.
That is the earliest listed weekday opening of the three, and it is open all weekend on those hours.
Roaster: we have not recorded one for this cafe, so we won’t name one.
Espresso 3094 — 44 Were Street, Montmorency VIC 3094
AGFG lists Espresso 3094 with “Takeaway”, “Breakfast”, “Child Friendly” and “Alfresco Dining” tags. Its own site gives the address as 44 Were Street.
We are leaving its hours off. The site pages we read carry old footer dates, and OpenStreetMap gives hours we could not match to the site, so any time we printed could be wrong. Call or check its site before you go.

Stones Throw — 5 Were Street, Montmorency VIC 3094
Stones Throw’s own site lists Monday to Friday 6.30am to 3.30pm, Saturday 7.30am to 2.30pm, and Sunday as closed. AGFG tags it “Takeaway”, “Breakfast”, “Vegan Options”, “Pet Friendly”, “Child Friendly” and “Alfresco Dining”.
Short verdict: it has the clearest published week of the three, and it is the one to skip on a Sunday.
The order: we found no coffee menu we could read, so check the cafe’s own menu for milk options.
