Correction (1 October 2026): an earlier version of this page named five Italian restaurants in Maidstone, with street addresses, opening hours, prices and seat counts, that we could find no record of anywhere, and it claimed we had eaten at every one of them. We had not. The page has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was checked against its own website or ordering page and a second, independent listing, and every price was copied from the venue’s own menu on 1 October 2026.
The Italian restaurant inside Maidstone with its full menu online is Straight Outta Naples, a Neapolitan pizzeria at 2/12 Hampstead Road, where a margherita is $23. For pasta, wood-fired pizza and the big family tables, the nearest Italian kitchens we could verify sit just over the suburb’s borders, in West Footscray, Braybrook and Maribyrnong.
Maidstone is a suburb 8 km north-west of the CBD in the City of Maribyrnong, home to 9,389 people at the 2021 census, with Highpoint Shopping Centre on its border. It takes its name from Maidstone in Kent, England, so if you were after Italian food in the Kent original, this is the other one. Every pizza menu makes a claim, even when it says nothing: the style is in the description, the oven is in the boast, and the price is in the corner. Below, each place is named for the style its own menu describes, with its claims quoted as the venue makes them.

The Maidstone pizzeria, on Hampstead Road. Its own about page says the founder, Marco, has made pizza since he was 12 years old, growing up in Naples, and the menu reads that way: San Daniele prosciutto, smoked provola, friarielli (the bitter Neapolitan broccoli greens) and a Masto Marco pizza ($29) topped with Genovese ragù, the slow-cooked veal-and-onion sauce of Naples. The Don Carmine ($29) layers pistachio paste, mortadella and stracciatella, the lasagna ’e Mamma’ is $26, arancini alla bolognese are $14 for two, and to finish there are cannoli at $8 and tiramisù at $14.
The style: Neapolitan (a soft, thin-centred pizza with a puffy, charred rim, the cornicione, cooked fast in a very hot oven).
Menu tells: the venue says its pizzas use “an original traditional Neapolitan recipe” and are “Cooked in our Marana oven”, and it offers gluten-free bases. Ask for a Ruota di Carro (+$4) and the pizza comes extra large and extra thin, dine in only.

Verdict for: date night, or a Neapolitan pizza without leaving the suburb.

How we checked
On 1 October 2026 we read each venue’s own website and menu: Straight Outta Naples’ menu page and its Square ordering page (the prices matched), Harley & Rose’s menu PDF linked from its site as the current menu, La Porchetta Sunshine’s own ordering site (pickup menu), and Palazzo’s takeaway menu PDF linked from its site, which its web server dates to 30 October 2025. Each item and price was copied exactly as printed. We confirmed each address at a second, independent source: the Australian Good Food Guide or Best Restaurants Australia. Suburb facts are from Wikipedia’s Maidstone page, which cites the ABS 2021 Census. Menus change, Harley & Rose’s in particular is seasonal, and online prices can differ from counter prices, so check before you go.
