Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.
Three places make this list, and only one is a Japanese restaurant by our filing: Rice Workshop on Rosamond Road in Maribyrnong. Dumbo in West Footscray and West 48 in Footscray are cafes that each have a Japanese-style dish on the menu, and we say so rather than stretch the label.
Each place was matched against two sources, drawn from its own website, the Australian Good Food Guide and OpenStreetMap. Prices are copied from menus where a menu printed them; Rice Workshop has none on this page.
Short dish decoders sit under the places, so a first-timer can read the menu without guessing.
