Four cafes made this list, and all four have a Malvern East street address. Each one either calls itself a breakfast stop on its own site or carries a “Breakfast” tag in the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG).
This page is about brekkie hours and menus, not coffee. Only one of the four, MoMa Social Cafe, has a price list we could read, so it gets the dishes. The other three get their listed hours and what their listings say.

MoMa Social Cafe — 255 Waverley Road, Malvern East VIC 3145
MoMa’s own site says “all-day breakfast, brunch and lunch”. Its hours read “Monday : 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM”, with the same 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM listed Wednesday to Sunday and “Tuesday : Closed”.
The menu is a clean sweet-or-savoury fork. The signature avocado smash and eggs is $24.90 and the pancake stack is also $24.90. Apple pie french toast is $26.90, which makes it the dearest dish we read. Eggs your way is $14.90, the lowest of the prices we read. Eggs your way is a pick-your-style order: you choose how the eggs are cooked.
On the menu (copied from momasocial.com.au/menu on 9 October 2026):

The Washing Room’s site prints cafe hours of “6:30am – 2pm Monday – Friday”, “7:30am – 1pm Saturday” and “7:30am – 12pm Sunday”. That ties with Clancy’s Bakehouse for the earliest weekday opening on this page, and it is the earliest finish.
AGFG tags the listing “Breakfast” and “Takeaway”. Those are listing features ticked on AGFG, so read them as what AGFG lists rather than a promise from the cafe. We found no price list we could read, so there is no dish to pin a price to.
Go for: the weekday start. Sunday is the short day, closing at 12pm by its own listing. Roaster and laptop policy: not stated on the pages we read.
Clancy’s Bakehouse — 278 Waverley Road, Malvern East VIC 3145
Clancy’s own site lists “Mondays: 6:30am - 3:00pm”, “Tue - Fri: 6:30am - 4:00pm” and “Saturday: 7:00am - 3:00pm”. Sunday reads “Closed”. The site carried no recent date on the pages we read, so check the hours before a Sunday plan.
AGFG tags it “Breakfast”, “Vegan Options”, “Child Friendly”, “Takeaway” and “Alfresco Dining”. Again, those are AGFG listing features. We could not read a price list for Clancy’s.
Go for: a weekday brekkie, when the doors open at 6:30am Monday to Friday and stay open until 4:00pm Tuesday to Friday. Roaster and laptop policy: not stated on the pages we read.
Jake & the Beans Talk — 510 Waverley Rd, Malvern East VIC 3145
Jake & the Beans Talk’s own site gives “Weekdays 7AM - 3PM” and “Weekends 8AM - 3PM”. Its closing time is the same on weekdays and weekends, 3PM.
AGFG lists it under “Breakfast”, “Vegan Options”, “Child Friendly”, “Pet Friendly”, “Takeaway” and “Alfresco Dining”. We found no price list we could read on its site.
