Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026.

This is a short list: two cafes in Malvern East that we could verify for a coffee stop, and no more. A longer list would mean padding it with places we could not confirm.

Both addresses are in Malvern East, on Waverley Road. Both were confirmed against their own website, the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) and OpenStreetMap.

A coffee page usually leads with roasters and milk options. Our checks did not capture a roaster, a coffee menu or a milk list for either place, so this page does not name one. What we can give you is hours, which is the thing that decides whether you get a flat white at all, and the features AGFG lists.

The quick picks

If you’re afterHead toWhere
A 6:30am weekday start, and the latest listed weekday close on this pageClancy’s Bakehouse278 Waverley Road, Malvern East
A Sunday stop, with a pet-friendly tag on AGFGJake & the Beans Talk510 Waverley Rd, Malvern East

Clancy’s Bakehouse — 278 Waverley Road, Malvern East VIC 3145

Clancy’s own site lists “Mondays: 6:30am - 3:00pm”, “Tue - Fri: 6:30am - 4:00pm” and “Saturday: 7:00am - 3:00pm”. Sunday reads “Closed”. The pages we read carried no recent date, so check before you plan around those hours.

AGFG lists Clancy’s as “Takeaway”, “Alfresco Dining”, “Breakfast”, “Vegan Options” and “Child Friendly”. Those are features ticked on the AGFG listing, so read them as what AGFG lists.

Roaster: not named in the sources we read.

Go for: a weekday stop. Tuesday to Friday is the longest run of hours here, 6:30am to 4:00pm.

Jake & the Beans Talk — 510 Waverley Rd, Malvern East VIC 3145

Jake & the Beans Talk’s own site says “Weekdays 7AM - 3PM” and “Weekends 8AM - 3PM”. Nothing on that line says it closes any day, which makes it the one to try on a Sunday.

AGFG lists it as “Takeaway”, “Alfresco Dining”, “Pet Friendly”, “Breakfast”, “Vegan Options” and “Child Friendly”. Again, these are AGFG listing features, not a promise from the cafe.

Roaster: not named in the sources we read.

Go for: the weekend. Sunday is the day on this page where Clancy’s is closed and this cafe is not.

Quick answers

How many Malvern East coffee stops did we verify?

Two: Clancy’s Bakehouse and Jake & the Beans Talk. Both are on Waverley Road. We left out any place we could not confirm at two independent sources, so this is not a full census of the suburb.

Which of the two is open on Sunday?

Jake & the Beans Talk, whose site lists “Weekends 8AM - 3PM”. Clancy’s Bakehouse lists Sunday as “Closed”.

Which opens earlier?

Clancy’s Bakehouse lists 6:30am on weekdays. Jake & the Beans Talk lists 7AM on weekdays. On Saturday Jake & the Beans Talk lists 8AM.

Do they list takeaway or outdoor seating?

AGFG lists both cafes with “Takeaway” and “Alfresco Dining”. AGFG also lists Jake & the Beans Talk as “Pet Friendly”. We did not find a laptop policy for either cafe.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites and the Australian Good Food Guide. We copied no menu prices from these places’ own pages, so this page prints none. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is illustrative, from Unsplash, and does not show any place on this page.
