Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026.

Six restaurants in and around Melbourne for a dinner for two, leaning on French rooms and Asian menus, plus one Middle Eastern pick. Four are in the city, one is in Fitzroy and one is in Southbank.

Each entry sticks to what the venue’s own site, OpenStreetMap or the Australian Good Food Guide publishes: the address, the hours where a source gives them, and a plan for the way home. We copied no menu prices and no accessibility notes on the pages we read, so we print neither and suggest asking when you book.

Plan B is simple. If your first choice is full, there are five more on this page, and each one says where its hours came from.

Vue de Monde — 525 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Vue de Monde’s own site gives its address as 525 Collins Street, and OpenStreetMap agrees. We file it as a French fine-dining restaurant, a format that usually means a long booking rather than a drop-in, so plan the whole outing around it. The pages we read carry no publish date and no prices we copied, so confirm details when you book.

Stage: Think milestone rather than casual first catch-up, because a fine-dining format asks for planning ahead.

Flower Drum — 17 Market Lane, Melbourne VIC 3000

Flower Drum’s own site lists 17 Market Lane, and OpenStreetMap matches it. We file it as a Chinese restaurant. We could not find hours or menu prices on the pages we read, and they carry no publish date, so call ahead for session times and prices.

Split or splurge: We found no prices on its pages, so ask what a shared table costs per person before you commit.

Maha — 21 Bond Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Maha’s own site gives 21 Bond Street, matching OpenStreetMap. The OpenStreetMap tag lists every day 12:00-15:00 and 18:00-22:00, but that is a map tag only and may be out of date. We file it as a Middle Eastern restaurant, and we found no menu prices to print.

Talk-ability: We found no note on music or noise in what Maha publishes, so ask when you book if conversation matters to you.

Frenchie — 15 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3004

Frenchie’s own site lists 1/15 Collins St and gives its hours as Monday - Sunday 12PM - 12AM. The OpenStreetMap tag lists Mo-Sa 17:00-00:00, so the two disagree, and AGFG lists a Level 1 address at 15 Collins Street under Southbank. We found no menu prices to print.

Say this: “Which hours should I trust for my day, the website’s or the map’s?”

Bistro Sousou — 153 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065

Bistro Sousou’s own site lists 153 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, and gives its hours as 5pm-late Tuesday-Saturday. OpenStreetMap agrees on the address. We file it as a French restaurant, and we found no menu prices on the pages we read.

Exit plan: The site says late, so work out your last tram or ride home before you settle in.

Nobu — 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank VIC 3006

Nobu’s own Melbourne page gives 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank. Its listing shows lunch Monday - Sunday 12:00pm - 3:00pm, then dinner Monday - Thursday 6:00pm - 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday 3:00pm - 11:00pm, and Sunday 3:00pm - 10:00pm. We file it as a sushi restaurant, the pages we read carry no publish date, and we found no menu prices.

Stage: Pick a sitting from the lunch or dinner times on its page, since it lists both.

Quick answers

Where can I book a fine-dining table for two in Melbourne?

Vue de Monde at 525 Collins Street is the one we file as French fine dining, and Flower Drum at 17 Market Lane is the Chinese pick. Neither page we read gave hours or prices, so contact the venues for both. Frenchie at 15 Collins Street is a French option that does list hours on its own site.

What time do Melbourne date-night restaurants open for dinner?

Bistro Sousou’s site says 5pm-late Tuesday-Saturday. Nobu’s page lists dinner Monday - Thursday from 6:00pm. Maha’s OpenStreetMap tag lists 18:00-22:00, which may be out of date, and Frenchie’s site says Monday - Sunday 12PM - 12AM.

Which Melbourne date-night restaurants list prices online?

We could not read menu prices on the pages of any of the six places here: Vue de Monde, Flower Drum, Maha, Frenchie, Bistro Sousou and Nobu. That is why this page prints no dollar amounts. Ask each venue about costs when you book.

Is there a French date-night restaurant in Fitzroy?

Bistro Sousou at 153 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, is the one on this page, and its own site says 5pm-late Tuesday-Saturday. If you would rather stay in the city, Frenchie at 15 Collins Street and Vue de Monde at 525 Collins Street are the other French entries.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites and the Australian Good Food Guide. We copied no menu prices from these places’ own pages, so this page prints none. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is illustrative, from Unsplash, and does not show any place on this page.
