Short list, honest list: two bakery options cleared our checks, and both are in Eltham, the next suburb over from Montmorency. The bakeries named on the old version of this page could not be confirmed, so they are gone, and the bakeries we found inside Montmorency appeared at only one source, so they wait for a second before we list them.
One is an Italian pasticceria with a cake and pastry counter, the other is a coffee roaster that also sells house-baked pastries and sourdough. Everything below comes from their own websites and the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG). We copied no menu prices on either venue’s own pages, so this page prints none.

Pierross Italian Pasticceria — Eltham Terrace, 5-9 Dudley Street, Eltham VIC 3095
Pierross’s own site says its cakes are “Made fresh daily” and that the selection, which includes gluten free options, varies each day. The pastry list names “Homemade Croissants: Flaky, homemade croissants” and a “Portuguese Tart: A taste of Portugal in every bite”, and the site also lists “Pizza by the slice, savoury pastries, pies and more.” The cafe hours on the site read Tue to Sat 8am to 2pm and Sun 9am to 12pm, with dinner on Fri and Sat nights from 5pm to 9pm. AGFG tags it “Child Friendly” and “Takeaway”.
Go for: the Portuguese Tart, which the site describes as “A taste of Portugal in every bite”; no price is published on the pages we read, so ask at the counter.
Craftwork Roasting Co. — 1/27 Peel Street, Eltham VIC 3095
Craftwork describes itself as serving “our seasonal coffee selections roasted onsite and available in store alongside our house baked pastries and sourdough breads.” The pages we read do not list which pastries or breads are on the counter on a given day, so ask when you arrive. The brew bar hours on its site are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 2:00pm, Saturday 7:30am - 2:00pm and Sunday 8:00am - 1:00pm. AGFG tags it “Takeaway”. The site does not show a cafe menu with prices that we could read.
Roaster: Craftwork says it roasts onsite, so the roaster is the cafe itself.

Which of the two is open on a Sunday?
Both list Sunday hours on their own sites: Pierross Italian Pasticceria from 9am to 12pm, and Craftwork Roasting Co. from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Pierross lists its dinner service for Friday and Saturday nights only.
Does Craftwork roast its own coffee?
Its own site says its seasonal coffee selections are “roasted onsite” and sold in store alongside house baked pastries and sourdough breads. It does not name a different roaster on the pages we read.
Does Pierross have gluten free cakes?
Its site says the cake selection “including gluten free options” varies each day, so which cakes are gluten free on a given day is a question for the counter. The site does not give a daily list.
Is this every bakery near Montmorency?
No. These are the two that cleared a two-source check on 5 October 2026, and both are in Eltham. Bakeries inside Montmorency turned up at only one source when we checked, so we have left them out until a second source confirms them.
