AGFG tags Convoy for breakfast, takeaway and alfresco dining, and lists it as pet friendly. Its own site lists Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm and weekends from 8:00am to 4:00pm. That site is undated, so confirm the hours before you head over. We could not find a published menu to quote.

Sir Duke — 99 Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039
Sir Duke’s menu prints White / Black / Batch Brew at $5.50, so a batch brew is on the board. Its site lists weekday hours of 7:30am to 5:00pm and weekends from 8:00am to 5:00pm. AGFG lists breakfast, takeaway and alfresco dining. Verdict: the one cafe here where we could read a coffee price.

Brother Hen’s own site lists Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm, Saturday from 7:30am and Sunday from 8:00am, with a 3:00pm finish all week. AGFG lists breakfast, takeaway and alfresco dining. The site is undated, so treat the hours as a guide. We could not find a menu with prices.
Go for: An early start, since the site lists the doors opening at 7:00am on weekdays.
Little Byrd — 160 Union Rd, Ascot Vale VIC 3032
AGFG lists breakfast, takeaway, vegan options and alfresco dining for Little Byrd. Its own site confirms the address on Union Rd. We could not find usable hours or a priced menu, so this entry is a listing, not a verdict.

No. 19 — 214 Union Road, Ascot Vale VIC 3032
The site for No. 19 invites visitors to make breakfast an occasion. It also gives two conflicting sets of hours, so we have printed none. The site is undated. We could not find a menu with prices.

Old Man Drew — 359-361 Mount Alexander Road, Ascot Vale VIC 3032
Old Man Drew’s menu prints Smiley Face Pancake at $13.00, served with fruit, ice cream and maple syrup. On the savoury side it prints Turkish Breakfast at $27.00: two poached eggs on garlic infused yoghurt with beef sujuk, lemon and toasted Turkish bread.
