It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources between 2 October 2026 and 3 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.
Six places made this page, and only one of them has a Mulgrave address. Three are in Springvale, one is in Wheelers Hill and one is at Monash University in Clayton, so this is Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Malaysian food in and around Mulgrave. Each heading below carries the venue’s own suburb.
We read each place’s own site where it had one, plus directory and map listings. Only Saigon Rex printed prices we could read, so only Saigon Rex gets dollar amounts. For the rest, the page gives hours and what the sources say, and a plain note where a menu was out of reach.
A menu is easier once someone decodes the first dish. Where a menu word needs it, there is a one-line decoder.

Chopstick Delight Chinese Restaurant — 79 Mackie Road, Mulgrave VIC 3170
This is the one place on the page with a Mulgrave address. OpenStreetMap tags it as a Chinese restaurant at 79 Mackie Road, and Yellow Pages lists the same street address. We found no website of its own.
A DoorDash listing gives hours of 11:30 am - 2:10 pm and 5:00 pm - 9:10 pm. That is a lunch service and a dinner service with a break between. We did not record prices, because delivery-platform prices are not the restaurant’s own menu.
Menu says: we could not read a menu from the restaurant itself, so there is no dish to decode here. Ring ahead or check the DoorDash listing for what is on offer.
Kao Gaeng Hot Pot & Shabu (Springvale) — Shop 13-14, 22-38 Queens Avenue, Springvale VIC 3171
Kao Gaeng’s own site lists opening hours as Monday - Sunday : 11:00 AM - 08:00 PM. OpenStreetMap tags the venue as a Thai restaurant with takeaway=yes.
Its online menu is an ordering page that did not load for us, so we have no dishes or prices to print. Shabu is a hot pot style where thin slices of meat and vegetables are cooked in a simmering broth at the table. That is general knowledge about the format, not a claim about this menu.
Decoder: hot pot means you cook the raw ingredients yourself in a shared pot, so ask the restaurant how its set works before you order.
Phở Dakao Hoàng — 6/17 Balmoral Avenue, Springvale VIC 3171
The restaurant’s site lists hours of Sun-Wed 9am-9pm and Thu-Sat 9am-9.30pm. It says: “Make takeaway orders directly from our website.” OpenStreetMap tags the cuisine as Vietnamese.
The site’s menu page lists dish names and numbers, but the capture we read showed no prices. Phở is a Vietnamese noodle soup, usually rice noodles in broth, and the name leads the restaurant’s title.
How to order: use the restaurant’s own site for takeaway, since that is the route it describes.
Ramen & Dumpling House (Wheelers Hill) — Shop 34/190-200 Jells Road, Wheelers Hill VIC 3150
The restaurant’s site says: “Please visit your local stores for dining in or takeaway.” It also describes a “well-priced menu” for a lunch or dinner with friends or family. Its own site’s Wheelers Hill store card lists Monday - Thursday: 11:30am-3pm and 5pm-9pm, and Friday - Sunday: 11:30am-9pm. OpenStreetMap’s tagged hours differ slightly, so check before you go.
We found no prices on its own site. Ordering there goes to delivery platforms, whose prices are not the restaurant’s menu.
Decoder: the name pairs two dishes. Ramen is a Japanese-style wheat noodle soup, and dumplings are filled parcels that are steamed, boiled or fried.
PappaRich Monash Clayton Express — Ground Floor, Campus Centre, 21 Chancellors Walk, Clayton, Monash University VIC 3800
This outlet is in Clayton on the Monash University campus, not in Mulgrave. Monash’s vendor page lists the location as Ground Floor, Campus Centre, and lists it as “Monash Clayton Express”. It also lists the features “Vegan Vegetarian Halal Unlicensed”. OpenStreetMap tags the cuisine as Malaysian.
We are not printing its hours here, so check the Monash vendor page linked under Sources before you go. No menu prices were captured.

Saigon Rex — 1/17 Balmoral Avenue, Springvale VIC 3171
Saigon Rex’s site lists its address as 1/17 Balmoral Avenue, and OpenStreetMap tags the cuisine as Chinese and Vietnamese. The menu prices below are copied from its menu page. Its menu also lists a free range chicken at Half $30 / Whole $58, and coconut jelly with ice cream at $9.80.
We found no opening hours on the pages we read, so none are printed here. Wonton soup is a broth with filled wonton wrappers, and a spring roll is a rolled, fried or fresh pastry; the menu prints the name only.
