Every vegan claim on this page is a marker printed on a menu or a sentence the venue published, quoted as it stands and taken no further. It covers five places: three in Nunawading and two in Mitcham, from a Nepalese and Indian restaurant to cafes, a burger shop and a bar.
None of these listings is a statement about allergies or coeliac safety, and we have not found one for any of them. Each entry ends with one question to ask at the counter or when you order.

Old Durbar Nepalese & Indian Restaurant — 145 Springvale Road, Nunawading VIC 3131
Old Durbar’s own online-ordering page lists Vegan Butter Chicken $19.95, next to Butter Chicken $21.95. The restaurant’s own location page lists Saturday 11:00am - 10:00pm and 5:00pm - 10:00pm on the other days. We did not find a published kitchen statement about shared cooking equipment.
On the menu (copied from orderonline.posapt.au on 4 October 2026):

The safe order: the dish the menu itself names as vegan, Vegan Butter Chicken $19.95, and then ask how it is prepared.
Cafe Blanc (Aromalily) — 93 Mount Pleasant Road, Nunawading VIC 3131
Cafe Blanc’s own site says: ‘We also offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.’ The menu prints (V,GF) beside EGGS YOUR WAY WITH TOAST (V,GF) $12, an egg dish, so read that V as vegetarian rather than vegan. The site lists Monday to Saturday 7.30am - 3.30pm and Sunday 7.30am - 2.30pm, and we did not find a list of which other dishes are vegan.
Menu markers: the only marker we read is (V,GF) beside EGGS YOUR WAY WITH TOAST (V,GF) $12, which is not a vegan marker, so ask which dishes the cafe makes vegan.
Miss Lucy — 133 Central Road, Nunawading VIC 3131
Miss Lucy’s menu key reads: ‘VE: Vegan option available on request.’ The PORRIDGE is printed with the marker (V/VE). Its own site lists Sunday to Friday 8AM - 5PM and says it is closed Saturdays and public holidays.
Ask: which dishes can be made vegan on request, since the menu says only that a vegan option is available on request.
Mad Patties Mitcham — 479 Whitehorse Road, Mitcham VIC 3132
Mad Patties lists a ‘Mad Plant’ plant-based vegan patty on its site, alongside a pumpkin and chickpeas patty. The shop’s own page lists Sunday to Thursday 11am - 9pm and Friday and Saturday 11am - 10pm. Its menu page lists burgers without prices and we could not read the ordering platform, so we have no prices to print.
Kitchen statement: we did not find a published kitchen statement, so ask whether the vegan patty is cooked separately from the other patties.
Mitcham Social — 1 Thornton Crescent, Mitcham VIC 3132
Mitcham Social is a restaurant and bar serving wood-fired pizzas and pub food. Its site lists ’tasty salads, plus gluten-free, veggie, and vegan options’ but does not name the vegan dishes that we could find. Its site puts the kitchen hours inside its listed opening hours, so check the day before you go.
Fully plant-based or options: options only, listed beside pizza and pub food, so ask which dishes are the vegan ones.
