Correction (3 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources between 2 October 2026 and 3 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Six cafes made this list: four in Oakleigh, one in Hughesdale and one in Murrumbeena, which is why the title says “in and around”. Each is built from its own site or listing, with hours and prices where we could read them.

The price gaps matter, so here they are up front. Three cafes have breakfast prices we could read: Vanilla Lounge, Melissa Oakleigh and Jack The Milkman. For 5FIVE Bakehouse Kitchen and Temperance Society we found no prices, and for Cote Terra we could not read a daytime menu as text. Sweet or savoury, pick a lane, then check the menu before you go.

Vanilla Lounge — 17-21 Eaton Mall, Oakleigh VIC 3166

Vanilla Lounge’s site says “Open seven days a week from 7am until 11pm.” It lists food “for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, cakes, functions and catering”, and AGFG tags it “Alfresco Dining”. The menu PDFs print Eggs Benedict at $22. They print Big Breakfast at $32. The sweet option is Homemade Classic Pancakes (2 stack) at $16.50. The PDFs are images, so we read the prices from the rendered pages.

On the menu (copied from vanillalounge.com.au and vanillalounge.com.au/Vanilla-Drinks-Menu-2026-v2.pdf on 3 October 2026):

  • Eggs Benedict: $22
  • Big Breakfast: $32
  • Homemade Classic Pancakes (2 stack): $16.50
  • Coffee (Duke’s Coffee Organic): $5.50

Roaster: the drinks menu lists “Coffee (Duke’s Coffee Organic)” at $5.50, and that is all it says on the subject.

Melissa Oakleigh — 5 Eaton Mall, Oakleigh VIC 3166

Melissa’s own site says “Open 7 Days A Week 8 am till Late”. It lists a “BREAKFAST MENU (UNTIL 1PM)” and a “KIDS BREKKIE (UNDER 12)”. The breakfast PDF prints BACON AND EGGS at $19. It prints EGGS YOUR WAY at $16, BREAKFAST BURGER at $15 and BIG BREKKIE at $29. The sweet pick is the CRANBERRY & MACADAMIA GRANOLA at $23. The same PDF carries weekend and public-holiday surcharges, so a weekend brekkie costs more than the printed price.

On the menu (copied from melissaoakleigh.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • BACON AND EGGS: $19
  • EGGS YOUR WAY: $16
  • BREAKFAST BURGER: $15
  • BIG BREKKIE: $29

The order: savoury is BACON AND EGGS at $19; sweet is the CRANBERRY & MACADAMIA GRANOLA at $23.

5FIVE Bakehouse Kitchen — 22 Eaton Mall, Oakleigh VIC 3166

We found no website for 5FIVE, and Oakleigh Traders points to Instagram only. The Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) lists it with the tags “Breakfast: 7 Days”, “Free Wifi”, “Pet Friendly”, “Child Friendly” and “Alfresco Dining”. A review on the same listing reads “Kid friendly, dog friendly, good food, easy food.” These tags come from AGFG, not from the cafe. AGFG lists it opening at 7:00 AM every day, closing at 4:00 PM from Sunday to Wednesday and at 5:00 PM from Thursday to Saturday. We found no prices.

Laptop policy: not stated by the cafe; AGFG tags it “Free Wifi”.

Cote Terra — 17 Station Street, Oakleigh VIC 3166

Oakleigh Traders describes Cote Terra as “Artisan coffee, gourmet sandwiches & brunch are served in a relaxed, contemporary café.” Its own site’s About page lists “Monday – Saturday: 7:30am – 2:30pm Sunday: 8:00am – 2:30pm”. We could not read a daytime menu as text, because the site’s menu links to an ordering page that did not load, so there is no breakfast price here. The site’s evening menu, “CT Night Every Thu • Fri • Sat 4:00pm-9:00pm”, is a dinner menu and not part of this breakfast page.

Go for: the daytime line from Oakleigh Traders, “Artisan coffee, gourmet sandwiches & brunch”, inside the listed hours.

Temperance Society — 127 Kangaroo Road, Hughesdale VIC 3166

Temperance Society is in Hughesdale, not Oakleigh. We found no website for it. AGFG tags it “Pet Friendly”, “Child Friendly” and “Alfresco Dining”, and those are AGFG’s tags rather than the cafe’s own statements. AGFG’s first hours line gives “Mon 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM” through Friday and “Sat 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM”, with Sunday the same as Saturday. The AGFG page also prints a second, different hours line, so the hours are uncertain and worth a phone call. We found no prices.

Go for: a table that suits what you bring: AGFG tags it “Pet Friendly” and “Child Friendly”, so ask the cafe what that covers.

Jack The Milkman — 55 Kangaroo Road, Murrumbeena VIC 3163

Jack The Milkman is in Murrumbeena, not Oakleigh. Its site says “BRUNCH & SPECIALTY COFFEE” and “ALL DAY BREAKFAST”, and lists “Mon – Fri: 6am – 3pm Sat – Sun: 7am – 3:30pm”; the menu PDF adds “Kitchen Closes at 2:30pm”, so the all-day breakfast ends before the doors do. The menu PDF prints Eggs your way at $12 and Milkman Brekky at $24. It prints Smashed Avo (ve) at $19.50, and the sweet pick is the Acai Bowl at $19.50. The file sits in an older uploads folder on the site, so prices may be older than this month, and the menu mentions a weekend surcharge. There is also a “KIDZ@MILKMAN (Under 12)” section.

On the menu (copied from jackthemilkman.com.au on 3 October 2026):

  • Eggs your way: $12
  • Milkman Brekky: $24
  • Smashed Avo (ve): $19.50
  • Acai Bowl: $19.50

Go for: Milkman Brekky at $24 if you want savoury, or the Acai Bowl at $19.50 if you want sweet.

Quick answers

Which of these cafes list breakfast prices?

Three do. Vanilla Lounge prints Eggs Benedict at $22. Melissa Oakleigh prints BACON AND EGGS at $19. Jack The Milkman, in Murrumbeena, prints Eggs your way at $12. We found no prices for 5FIVE Bakehouse Kitchen or Temperance Society, and we could not read Cote Terra’s daytime menu as text.

Who serves breakfast latest?

Melissa Oakleigh’s menu says “BREAKFAST MENU (UNTIL 1PM)”. Jack The Milkman’s site says “ALL DAY BREAKFAST”, with listed hours of “Mon – Fri: 6am – 3pm Sat – Sun: 7am – 3:30pm”, but its menu PDF prints “Kitchen Closes at 2:30pm”. Vanilla Lounge lists food “for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, cakes, functions and catering” and opens until 11pm, but gives no breakfast cut-off we could read.

Are any of these pet-friendly?

AGFG tags both 5FIVE Bakehouse Kitchen and Temperance Society “Pet Friendly”. Those are AGFG’s tags, not statements from the cafes, so ask whether that means inside or only at outdoor tables.

Can I go on a weekend?

All six list Saturday and Sunday hours. Melissa Oakleigh’s breakfast PDF lists a 10% weekend surcharge and Jack The Milkman’s menu lists a 5% weekend surcharge, so the printed prices are lower than what you pay on a Saturday.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources between 2 October 2026 and 3 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites, oakleightraders.com.au, the Australian Good Food Guide and coteterra.com. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 3 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The photos are illustrative, from Unsplash: they show the kind of food or place, not the places on this page.
