Since a venue makes a promise with each menu marker, this page passes along markers and statements the way they were published and stops there. It answers one question: where in and around Ormond does a venue or a food directory say it has vegan options?
There are six places. One is in Bentleigh, one in Glen Huntly, three in Carnegie and one in McKinnon, so none of them is in Ormond itself. For each we say who made the vegan claim, whether that is the venue or the Australian Good Food Guide, and what we could not confirm.
Each entry ends with one question to put to the venue. We checked every place at two sources, and we do not call any dish suitable for coeliacs or allergies, because only the venue can say that.

Swaad India’s Zest — Shop 9, 271-275 Centre Road, Bentleigh VIC 3204
Its site lists “Vegan, gluten-free and no-onion, no-garlic dishes available.” It also carries the line “Gluten-Free Indian Food”. That makes it one of the few places here where the venue itself, not a directory, makes the vegan claim.
The menu marks the Traditional Crispy Samosa (2 pieces) (DF) at $16.95 and the Tandoori Paneer Tikka (4 pieces) (GF) at $24.95. DF reads as dairy-free, which is not the same as vegan, so treat the marker as a lead and not an answer. OpenStreetMap lists it open Tuesday to Sunday, 16:00 to 22:00.
Ask: which dishes the vegan line covers, since the site wording we quote names no dishes, and whether the dine-in prices above also apply to takeaway.
Makhana Indian Restaurant — 1224 Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly VIC 3163
AGFG tags it with “Vegan Options”, and that tag is the only vegan source we have for this place. Its own site lists hours as “Daily : 1:00 PM to 11:00 pm”.
The menu prints Dal Makhani at $16.99 and Veg Fried Rice at $16.99. The same menu prints Butter Chicken at $17.99, so read this as a mixed menu with options rather than a plant-based one. Fusion items sit on the same menu too.
Fully plant-based or options: options, going by the AGFG wording, so ask which dishes are made without dairy before you order.
La Cabra Mexican Carnegie — 121 Koornang Road, Carnegie VIC 3163
AGFG tags La Cabra’s Carnegie restaurant with “Vegan Options”. The venue’s own page lists “Margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, Burrito Thursday and Friday Happy Hour”, but we could not read item prices because the menu is a PDF.
The one price we copied is a set package, the Bottomless Fiesta, which the page prints as “90 minutes of unlimited drinks and a five-course meal for $75 per person”. We could not tell whether that package has a vegan version. This is Carnegie, not Ormond.
Menu markers: none we could read, so ask the kitchen to point out which dishes the AGFG vegan tag refers to.
Mr Burch — 129 McKinnon Road, McKinnon VIC 3204
This is the one place on the page with a plant-based marker printed on the menu itself. Its key reads “PB = Plant Based | PBO = Option to be Plant Based”, and one dish is printed as “Zaatar Mushrooms [PB] with harissa hommus”.
Its site also says, “We are happy to adapt our menu to accommodate most dietary needs and children’s portions”. That is an offer to adapt, not a promise about any one dish, so the PBO items are worth a quick check with the kitchen.
The safe order: the dish the menu itself marks PB, the Zaatar Mushrooms with harissa hommus, and then ask about the kitchen as you order.
Roule Galette Carnegie — 104 Koornang Road, Carnegie VIC 3163
AGFG lists “Vegan Options” among its features for this Carnegie cafe. That is a directory tag, not the venue’s own wording. We could not read prices because the menu is not readable as text.
Its own site lists Monday as closed, and Friday and Saturday as 9am to 10pm. Check the menu in person, because we could not confirm which dishes the tag covers.
Ask: which galettes and crepes are made without dairy or egg, since the tag we quote names no dishes.
Lukumades Carnegie — Shop 3/89 Koornang Road, Carnegie VIC 3163
The Lukumades site answers the question directly: “Are Lukumades doughnuts vegan? Absolutely! Our Lukumades doughnuts are vegan.” That statement comes from the brand-wide site and its FAQ, not from a page specific to the Carnegie shop.
We could not find a published line about toppings or sauces, and we could not source any prices. The statement covers the doughnuts, so ask about everything added on top.
Kitchen statement: the brand says its doughnuts are vegan, so ask the Carnegie shop to confirm the same for the toppings.

Where can I find vegan food near Ormond?

Are Lukumades doughnuts in Carnegie vegan?
