Correction (1 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed ten “Indian” venues in Plenty that we could not match to any real business, all under postcode 3082, which belongs to Mill Park (Plenty is 3090). It gave seat counts, prices and “insider tips” for those places, and said every option had been tested in person. None of that could be stood behind. The page has been rewritten from scratch: every kitchen below was confirmed at two independent sources, and every price was copied from the venue’s own menu or ordering page on 1 October 2026.
Plenty is green-wedge country, 21 km north-east of the CBD in the Shire of Nillumbik, and the Australian Good Food Guide’s restaurant list for the suburb is two cafes, a burger shop and a modern Australian dining room. When we searched that guide’s Plenty listings and OpenStreetMap on 1 October 2026, neither showed an Indian kitchen inside the suburb’s boundary. So this is an honest “in and around” guide: the nearest Indian kitchens sit just over the borders, in Mill Park, Greensborough, Diamond Creek and, up Yan Yean Road, Doreen.
Community context: at the 2021 Census, 31 of Plenty’s 2,575 residents (1.2 per cent) were born in India, against 4.0 per cent across Victoria, and the most common language at home other than English was Italian, at 3.3 per cent. Westfield Plenty Valley, despite the name, is in Mill Park, just across the Plenty River that forms Plenty’s border with that suburb. Two of the five kitchens below are inside it.
A quick guide to the board before you order a parcel (the Indian-English word for takeaway). A dosa is a crisp crepe of fermented rice and lentil batter from South India, served with sambar, a tangy lentil-and-vegetable broth, and chutneys. Biryani is rice layered with spiced meat or vegetables and cooked slowly under a lid, and butter chicken is the North Indian tandoor-roasted chicken finished in a mild tomato, butter and cream sauce.

The masala dosa is $17.95, the plain or paper dosa $12.95, and the ghee podi dosa, brushed with ghee and spread with “gun powder” spice, is $14.95; for a table to share there is the 70MM masala dosa, which the menu describes as a large crepe, at $23.95. The menu calls its dum biryanis “classic Hyderabadi Mughlai Style”, and the chicken dum biryani shares its $20.95 price with a Punjabi butter chicken from the North Indian curry list.

Start with: masala dosa, $17.95.
Spiced Up — Food Court, Westfield Plenty Valley, 415 McDonalds Road, Mill Park VIC 3082

The second Indian counter we found at Westfield Plenty Valley is in the food court, and it pairs Indian food with Nepalese street food. Its listing on the centre’s own site promises “colourful curries and naan breads cooked in a traditional tandoor oven” alongside momo, chowmein, sekwa and choila (two Nepalese styles of spiced grilled meat) and ju ju dhau, which the listing calls the “king of yoghurt”, a sweet set yoghurt from Bhaktapur. We could not find a menu with prices on a page the venue or the centre controls, so there are no prices here; check at the counter.
On the menu: momo, the steamed Himalayan dumpling, usually filled with spiced chicken or vegetables and served with a tomato and sesame achar for dipping.
Start with: a plate of momo.
Mehek Indian Restaurant — 8 Main St, Greensborough VIC 3088

Greensborough borders Plenty to the south, and Mehek is on Main Street there. Its own online ordering menu prices the Signature Butter Chicken at $18.90, a chicken biryani at $16.90 and garlic naan at $4.50, and for a one-person parcel the Butter Chicken Box with a Naan is $22.90. Two dishes show the menu reaching beyond North India: polos ambula, which the menu describes as green jackfruit cooked with onion, curry leaves and tomato, and a “Colombo style” devilled chickpea, both $17.90.
On the menu: dal kabila, which the menu describes as lentils slow cooked overnight on the tandoor with herbs and spices, $17.90.
Start with: Signature Butter Chicken, $18.90.
Mirza Food & Wine — 4/24 Chute St, Diamond Creek VIC 3089

Diamond Creek is Plenty’s neighbour to the east, and Mirza is the one kitchen on this list that sells itself on wine as well as food: its own site says it brings together “traditional Indian recipes, fine wines, and warm hospitality”, and it takes bookings. The prices below are from its online pickup menu, linked from its own site, because its dine-in and take-away menus are posted as images. Butter chicken is $28.45, chicken biryani $20.30 and naan $5.10 a piece, and the Colonel Tso Cauliflower ($20.30), a play on the name of General Tso’s chicken, is described on the menu as “Tangy, crunchy, and totally addictive”.
On the menu: papdi chaat, $18.30, crisp fried wafers under yoghurt and tangy chutneys, one of the salty, sweet and sour street snacks that India calls chaat.
Start with: papdi chaat, $18.30.
Karan’s Indian Restaurant — 10/95 Hazel Glen Dr, Doreen VIC 3754

Yan Yean Road runs through Plenty and on to the estates of Doreen, where Karan’s is on Hazel Glen Drive. Its ordering page, linked from its own site, is built for takeaway: the Dinner Pack for two ($55.00) brings samosas, chicken tikka, a butter chicken, a vegetable korma, butter naan, pappadums and rice, and the Family Pack ($95.99 on the ordering page; the home page still advertises a Family Pack for $90) scales that up to three curries. A la carte, butter chicken is $20.99, chicken biryani with raita $15.99 and garlic naan $3.50.
On the menu: chicken biryani, $15.99, basmati rice flavoured with saffron and cooked with chicken and spices, served with raita, a cooling yoghurt side.
Start with: the Dinner Pack for two, $55.00.

Laung Laachi, an Indian restaurant at Unit 7/5 Bush Blvd in Mill Park, describes itself on its own site as “Now Open in Mill Park”. Its online menu only loads inside its ordering app, so we could not read its prices as text, and it sits here rather than in the picks.

How we checked
On 1 October 2026 we read each venue’s own website, branch menu or the online ordering page its own site links to, and copied every item and price exactly as printed. Mehek’s prices come from the menu feed behind its own ordering site; Mirza’s and Karan’s from the ordering pages linked from their own sites, because their other menus are images. We confirmed every address at a second, independent source: the Australian Good Food Guide, Everything Indian, Westfield’s own store page, or an ordering platform listing. No prices were taken from delivery apps, and no ratings are repeated here. Census figures are from the ABS 2021 QuickStats for Plenty; the suburb’s location, the Plenty River border and Yan Yean Road are from Wikipedia. Online prices can differ from counter prices, deals change, and some kitchens show only part of their menu on the web. We re-checked the Dosa Hut and Karan’s pages on 2 October 2026. The photos are illustrative, from Unsplash: they show the kind of dish, not the venue’s own food.
