Every suburb has a few buildings that quietly do the heavy lifting, and in Prahran most of them are run by the council. This guide covers seven community places in and around Prahran: six in the suburb and one, the Victorian Pride Centre, across the border in St Kilda.
Each entry says who publishes the information, so you can see whose listing a fact comes from. Where a place does not publish opening hours or prices that we could read, we say so and print nothing instead of guessing.
Every place was checked against at least two sources, and programs change, so confirm with the organiser before you head over.

Prahran RSL Memorial Hall — 301 High Street, Prahran VIC 3181
The City of Stonnington lists the Prahran RSL as a hire venue, and its venue page calls it “a valuable community facility available for casual and ongoing hire.” The council describes the Memorial Hall on the ground floor as having polished wooden floors and being suitable for dance and exercise classes, performances and small functions and events. The council also says the venue is wheelchair accessible. We could not find published opening hours, which fits a hall that is booked rather than dropped into.
Who runs it: The council lists it as a venue for hire, so the booking goes through its venue hire page.
Stonnington Services and Visitor Centre (Prahran Square) — Prahran Square, corner Chatham and Izett streets, Prahran VIC 3181
This is the council’s customer service and visitor hub on Prahran Square, at the corner of Chatham and Izett streets. Its own page says “Our friendly team are here to assist you with all of your enquiries, visitor information and advice.” It is a service counter rather than a program venue, so it suits questions about council services and local information. The council’s listing gives Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm, and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm.

Prahran Aquatic Centre — 41 Essex Street, Prahran VIC 3181
The council describes Prahran Aquatic Centre as a place for everyone in the community to explore, maintain and improve their wellbeing, with a 50m pool, spa, sauna, steam room and a cafe. Its facilities list reads “Heated 50m outdoor pool * Spa * Sauna * Steam Room”. The council also says the centre is accessible, with pool hoists, accessible toilets and accessible change rooms. Its fees page lists a Swim Pass at $9.90 and a Family Swim Pass at $25.10, and says a swim pass entry fee applies to all patrons, whether swimming, sunbaking or using the showers.

Greville Street Library — 180 Greville Street, Prahran VIC 3181
The council calls this Greville Street Library, one of four libraries in the City of Stonnington, located inside Prahran Town Hall. Older map listings still carry it as Prahran Library or Prahran Square Library, so you may see either name. The council says the library provides library and information services and free WiFi, and its facilities list includes public computers, printing, scanning, study desks and toilets. The council’s listing shows it closed on Sundays.
Show up: The council’s listing gives weekday and Saturday hours, and we could not find a price for membership or borrowing on that page.
Chapel Off Chapel — 12 Little Chapel Street, Prahran VIC 3181
Chapel Off Chapel describes its Chapel Sessions as musical acts that are “stripped back, up close and personal.” Its home page, checked on 2 October 2026, listed Live Music on 9 October with Sweet Boy, alongside a jazz festival program and a musical thriller season. The venue says it is the only authorised seller of tickets for that season. The council says the venue sits in Princes Gardens, and chapelstreet.com.au lists it as a live music and theatre venue.
Turn up or book: Shows are ticketed through the venue’s own site, and we could not find ticket prices published on the pages we checked.
The MC Showroom — Level 1, 50 Clifton Street, Prahran VIC 3181
The MC Showroom is on Level 1 of Clifton Street, and chapelstreet.com.au says its black-box style show theatres are “a popular choice for cabarets, musicals, concerts of all genres, stage plays”. The venue’s own site lists several Melbourne Fringe 2026 shows, including It’s All Mine. We could not find opening hours or ticket prices on the pages we read, so the show listing is the place to start.

Victorian Pride Centre — 79-81 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda VIC 3182
The Victorian Pride Centre is in St Kilda, not Prahran, so treat it as a short trip out of the suburb. Its site calls it “Australia’s first purpose-built centre for LGBTIQA+ communities” and says it brings together diverse groups and organisations to share ideas and collaborate. The site also lists a wheelchair accessible entrance with no ramps and says assistance animals are welcome. We could not find opening hours or admission prices on the pages we read.
Who runs it: The centre’s own website lists its events and groups, so check there for what is on before you travel.
