Correction (10 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 9 October 2026.

This page covers bakeries and pastry stalls in South Melbourne. The honest count is three: Cobb Lane, Wood Frog Bakery and Market Borek, all on Coventry Street. That is all that passed our checks, so we have not padded it.

Each place was matched against two independent sources, including its own site and OpenStreetMap. We copied no menu prices, so none are printed. Hours appear only where a listing gives them.

Cobb Lane — 322-326 Coventry Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205

Cobb Lane’s own locations page lists a South Melbourne Market stall at 322-326 Coventry Street. OpenStreetMap agrees on the name. We have not printed hours for the stall, and the site carries no date we could read. Check the stall’s own locations page and the market’s trading days before you go.

Go for: A market-stall stop on Coventry Street, going by its own locations page.

Wood Frog Bakery — 301 Coventry Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205

Wood Frog Bakery’s own find-us page gives 301 Coventry Street and lists Mon to Sun 7am - 5pm. The site also says “All our other breads are vegetarian/vegan.” It carries no date we could read, so treat the hours as a guide. Seven days is the fullest listing on this page.

The order: Bread, and check its site for which loaves carry the vegan note.

Market Borek — 322-326 Coventry Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205

The South Melbourne Market’s own site lists Market Borek as a trader and gives 322-326 Coventry Street as its address, and OpenStreetMap agrees on the name. AGFG’s location line reads Food Hall, Coventry St & Cecil Street. We could not find hours specific to the stall, so use the market’s published trading days.

The order: Borek, a filled pastry common in Turkish cooking; ask the stall what fillings are on.

Quick answers

How many bakeries are there in South Melbourne?

Three passed our checks: Cobb Lane, Wood Frog Bakery and Market Borek. That is not a count of every bakery in the suburb, only the ones we could confirm at two independent sources.

Where are the bakeries on Coventry Street?

Wood Frog Bakery lists 301 Coventry Street on its own find-us page. Cobb Lane and Market Borek both list 322-326 Coventry Street, which is the South Melbourne Market address.

Is there a vegan bakery in South Melbourne?

We did not find a fully vegan bakery. Wood Frog Bakery’s site says “All our other breads are vegetarian/vegan.” so check which breads that covers. We found no vegan listing for Cobb Lane or Market Borek.

What are the opening hours of South Melbourne bakeries?

Wood Frog Bakery’s own site lists Mon to Sun 7am - 5pm. We have not printed hours for Cobb Lane or Market Borek, and the market publishes its own trading days, so check those before you go.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 9 October 2026: OpenStreetMap, the places’ own websites, southmelbournemarket.com.au and the Australian Good Food Guide. We copied no menu prices from these places’ own pages, so this page prints none. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go. The cover photo is illustrative, from Unsplash, and does not show any place on this page.
