Correction (5 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 4 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.

Five places in Sunbury, five different ways to get a coffee: a roastery and espresso bar, a patisserie, a deli, and two cafes. Pick a lane.

The Spotted Owl is the only one that names its roaster on its own site, Axil Coffee Roasters. The others talk about roasting or beans without a name, and we have not filled the gap.

Everything here comes from menus, centre pages, AGFG and the places’ own sites. Hours are quoted as each venue lists them and attributed in the entry. We cannot report on how the coffee tastes, so we stick to what is printed.

Just Planet Roastery & Espresso Bar — 37 O’Shanassy St, Sunbury VIC 3429

The specialist on this list. Its site invites visitors to its roastery and espresso bar, and says it uses organic coffee beans from accredited farms prioritising sustainable development.

Its own footer lists Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Saturday is 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Sunday is 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. AGFG shows a different, longer set, so check before a Sunday trip. We found no menu prices.

Roaster: Just Planet itself, as its site presents the place as a roastery and espresso bar.

Michel’s Patisserie (Sunbury Square) — Kiosk 4, Sunbury Square Shopping Centre, 2-28 Evans Street, Sunbury VIC 3429

A patisserie kiosk inside Sunbury Square. The centre page says its baristas make an ‘award-winning espresso’, which is Michel’s own claim; no award or year is named.

The same page lists Monday to Saturday 7:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 7:00am to 4:30pm. High Tea is available dine-in or takeaway, and bookings are essential. No menu prices were published.

The order: A coffee with a slice, since the centre page describes it as the place to meet a friend for coffee and cake.

Aldente Delicatessen — Shop 1, Sunbury Square Shopping Centre, Evans Street, Sunbury VIC 3429

This is a deli, not a cafe. Its site says ‘Fresh Roasted Coffee Daily’, alongside gelato, pantry staples and made-to-order platters. It does not name a roaster.

Its site lists Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. No prices are published.

Go for: Roasted coffee on a shop visit, then a look at the cheese, gelato and platters.

The Nook Cafe & Wine Bar — 111 Evans St, Sunbury VIC 3429

The venue’s page pairs a cafe with a wine bar. Its cafe copy talks about a freshly brewed coffee and a hearty breakfast. It lists cafe hours of 8:00am to 3:00pm every day, while AGFG shows a later close.

The May menu PDF prints the TRADIE ROLL at $16.50 and the HAM & CHEESE SOURDOUGH TOASTIE at $8.50. Coffee prices did not read cleanly, so none are given.

On the menu (copied from castellos.com.au/Nook-Menu-MAY26.pdf on 4 October 2026):

  • EGGS ON TOAST (V): $16
  • AVOCADO ON SOURDOUGH (V): $21
  • CLASSIC PANCAKE 3 STACK: $23
  • TRADIE ROLL: $16.50

The order: EGGS ON TOAST (V) at $16 is the first line on the printed breakfast list.

The Spotted Owl — 93 O’Shanassy St, Sunbury VIC 3429

The cafe’s own site says it is a specialty coffee shop ‘proudly serving coffee from Axil Coffee Roasters’. That is the clearest roaster claim on this page.

Breakfast is served all day, per the cafe. The site lists weekdays 7:00 am to 2:30 pm and weekends from 7:30 am. Its menu prints the Pork Benny at $25.00 and the Egg and Bacon Roll OR Toastie at $13.00.

On the menu (copied from thespottedowl.com.au on 4 October 2026):

  • Pork Benny: $25.00
  • Breakfast Plate: $26.00
  • Free Range Eggs (V): $15.00
  • Breakfast Burger: $17.00

Roaster: Axil Coffee Roasters, named on the cafe’s own site.

How we checked

We checked every place on this page against at least two independent sources on 4 October 2026: the places’ own websites, the Australian Good Food Guide, sunburysquare.com.au, a delivery-platform listing and OpenStreetMap. Every price is copied exactly as printed on the page linked under Sources, on 4 October 2026. Menus, prices and opening hours change, so check with the venue before you go.
