A dumpling menu or a ramen board is easier to read once someone decodes the labels, so this page goes one place at a time. It covers six places in and around Thornbury: five on High Street in Northcote and one in Preston. We name a regional style only where a menu or listing names it, and we give a first order for each place with its printed price where we could read one.
Every place was checked against at least two sources, including the venue’s own site and a second listing. Where a menu was an image or a PDF we could not read safely, we say so instead of guessing, and where we could not find hours we do not state any.

Brother Bon — 377-379 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Brother Bon’s own site says, “At Brother Bon, we serve delicious, 100% vegan meals made with fresh ingredients, care, and creativity.” The site also lists gluten free options, halal friendly and a kids menu, and AGFG tags it with raw food options, takeaway and vegan options. Its menus are PDFs in a multi-column layout, so we could not read item prices safely and print none here.
Its site lists dinner Tuesday to Sunday and lunch on weekends, and says it is closed on public holidays.

Yuni’s Kitchen — 251 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
We list Yuni’s Kitchen as Indonesian; its own site is where to read the dishes. The site says, “We offer a great range of Vegetarian, Vegan & Gluten Free options.” It also describes the room as very small, and says outside tables are strictly non reserved and subject to weather conditions.
Its site lists dinner Tuesday to Saturday and says it is closed Sunday and Monday. We could not find item prices on its menu page, so none are printed here.
How to order: Book ahead through the site if you want a table, because it describes the room as very small and online reservations are time-limited.
Tao Dumplings (Northcote) — 329 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
We list Tao Dumplings as Chinese with dumplings as its focus. Its site offers store pickup and a takeout order option, and its Northcote page lists the store as closed Monday, with lunch and dinner Tuesday to Sunday. The site covers several stores, and the Northcote menu page is an image, so we recorded no prices rather than borrow a figure from another store.
Decoder: On a dumpling menu, steamed, pan-fried and boiled describe the cooking method rather than the filling, so choose the method first and the filling second.
The Dojo Ramen Bar — 333 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
The Dojo Ramen Bar’s menu prints Edamame at $8 and tags it (V)(GF)(VG); the menu does not spell out those codes, so ask what each one covers. Its shoyu (soy sauce) ramen is printed at $22, and the menu describes shoyu as a soy-sauce seasoning mixed with the Dojo’s broth. For a lighter bowl, the menu prints Shio (salt) ramen at $21 and veggie shoyu (V) at $21.
The menu says vegan versions are marked with a hash and cost extra. Its site’s data lists lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and Monday closed.

Order this first: Start with Edamame at $8, then pick a ramen by its tare, the seasoning base: soy for shoyu, salt for shio.
Yokoso Izakaya (Northcote) — 384 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
An izakaya is a casual place built around shared small plates and drinks, and Yokoso Izakaya’s menu reads that way. It prints Gyoza (pan-fried pork dumpling) at $13.50, Edamame at $8 and Tori Kara at $14.50, which the menu describes as deep fried marinated chicken served with mayo and lemon. The menu also prints Miso Soup at $5 and Sashimi Moriawase (Small) at $22.
Its site offers reservations and order and pick up. We could not find reliable hours on its own site, so none are stated, and its booking page was taking bookings when we checked.

Chumanchu — 2/4 Gilbert Road, Preston VIC 3072
Chumanchu’s menu prints Prawn Crackers at $6, Edamame Beans at $8 and Thai Fish Cakes with sweet chilli at $13. For a main, it prints Massaman Beef Curry at $28, served with coconut rice, and Chicken Canai at $26, which the menu says is chicken on the bone served with roti bread. Its site also lists a Kho Chay Buddhist stew with mock meats, tofu, bamboo shoots and greens, tagged VG.
The site says it is fully licensed and BYO wine only, lists dine in and take away, and has brunch Friday to Sunday. It lists Monday as closed. It sits in Preston, not Northcote.
