The Old Milkbar — 144 Dundas Street, Thornbury VIC 3071
The Old Milkbar’s site lists Monday – Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm and Saturday – Sunday 8am to 3:30pm. That covers both a weekday and a weekend start.
Its menu heads one item ALL DAY BREAKFAST TOAST and describes eggs on toast as “Eggs your way on toasted sourdough, multigrain or gluten free”. The menu prints EGGS ON TOAST at $14 and TOAST at $10.50.
Savoury leaners can look at BREAKFAST SLIDERS at $16, while THE BIG MILKBAR BREAKFAST is printed at $30. Toast or the big plate, the menu gives you both ends.

Little Henri — 850 High Street, Thornbury VIC 3071
Little Henri’s site describes itself as “Breakfast | Lunch | Functions Open 7 Days”. It also describes “a large leafy open courtyard”.
The site gives no hours beyond that, so the times here come from OpenStreetMap, which lists weekdays 07:30 to 15:30 and weekends 08:00 to 15:30. Treat those as a guide and confirm.
The food menu is an image, so we could not read any prices. We will not guess them.
Go for: a seven-day breakfast option with a courtyard, then check the menu image before you leave home.
Short Round — 731 High Street, Thornbury VIC 3071
Short Round’s site leads with “SEASONAL FOOD & SPECIALTY DRINK. BREAKFAST. LUNCH. COFFEE. COCKTAILS.” Its menu page is headed SPRING MENU, so expect it to change with the season.
The site lists “Mon-Fri: 7 - 3:30 Sat & Sun: 8 - 3:30” and adds “Bookings available Mon-Fri No bookings on weekends”. That makes it the one here where the site spells out the booking rule.
The menu is an image, so we could not read prices.
Go for: a weekday booking, since the site says bookings are available Mon-Fri and not on weekends.
Red Door Corner Store Cafe — 70 Mitchell Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Red Door Corner Store Cafe, over in Northcote, lists “Monday to Friday 7am – 4pm Saturday & Sunday 8am – 4pm Kitchen closes at 3pm” on its site. Mind the kitchen cut-off.
Its toast is Wild Life Bakery organic sourdough or gluten-free, with cultured butter and a choice of housemade raspberry jam, peanut butter or vegemite, and the menu prints Toast at $13. Local Free-range Eggs are printed at $17.50, served on two slices of Wild Life Bakery organic toast.
Sweet side: Housemade Wholemeal Crumpets are printed at $15.50 and Housemade Apricot & Fig Fruit Bread at $14. The menu is a PDF linked from the home page, and the site carries no date we could find.

Tinker — 235 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Tinker’s site lists “Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm Saturday - Sunday 8:00am - 4:00pm”. It sits on High Street in Northcote.
The menu has a line headed “BETTER ON BREAD make your own TOAST W/ SPREADS”, and it prints TOAST W/ SPREADS at $10. A Ham, Cheese, Tomato Toastie is printed at $12, and an Almond Croissant at $8.50.
For a bigger sweet plate, HOT CAKES are printed at $20. The menu is a PDF that may be older than the current menu, so check it is current.

Kampot Kitchen — 11 High Street, Preston VIC 3072
Kampot Kitchen, in Preston, lists “Monday – Friday: 10am – 3pm Saturday – Sunday: 8am – 4pm”. The word breakfast does not appear on its site as far as we could find, so the weekend 8am start is our reason for including it.
Its site lists “Bacon & egg with home-made kampot sauce with kampot pepper”. The site also says it “proudly serves Gravity Espresso, coffee beans freshly roasted in Melbourne.”
The online ordering page prints Cambodian Coffee at $6.00 and Coconut Prawns at $18.00. Weekday starts are later than at the cafes above, per its listed hours.

Three Thornbury places are covered here. The Old Milkbar’s site lists Saturday – Sunday 8am to 3:30pm. Short Round’s site lists “Sat & Sun: 8 - 3:30” but says there are no bookings on weekends. Little Henri’s own site says “Open 7 Days”, with times from OpenStreetMap only, so confirm those before you go.
How much is toast at Thornbury breakfast cafes?
The Old Milkbar’s menu prints TOAST at $10.50. Tinker’s menu prints TOAST W/ SPREADS at $10. Red Door Corner Store Cafe’s menu prints Toast at $13, and it is the Wild Life Bakery sourdough version with cultured butter and spreads. Little Henri and Short Round publish menus as images, so we could not read their prices.
Is there a bacon and egg baguette near Thornbury?
Kampot Kitchen in Preston lists “Bacon & egg with home-made kampot sauce with kampot pepper” on its site. It lists Saturday – Sunday: 8am – 4pm, and Monday – Friday: 10am – 3pm, so weekday breakfast is a later start than at the Thornbury cafes.
Can I book breakfast at Short Round in Thornbury?
Short Round’s site says “Bookings available Mon-Fri No bookings on weekends”. It lists Mon-Fri: 7 - 3:30 and Sat & Sun: 8 - 3:30. We could not read prices because its menu is an image.
