Melbourne’s live music reputation rests on rooms, and this page lists the ones near Thornbury with what each venue publishes: shows, gig nights, capacity where a council states it, and the difference between the front bar and the band room where a site draws it.
Six places are covered: two in Thornbury, three in Northcote and one in Preston, so this is live music in and around Thornbury. Each one was checked against its own site or council page and a second source. We name no act that a venue has not listed, and shows change, so check the venue before you go.

The Thornbury Theatre — 859 High Street, Thornbury VIC 3071
The Thornbury Theatre’s own site listed a run of October 2026 shows when we checked, among them Mietze Conte, Cuban Fire! and MUDHONEY (USA). It also lists Crown Ruler & Tribe Presents.. Ash Lauryn & Zepherin Saint, and a Best Seller Book Club, which shows the room is used for more than gigs. We could not find ticket prices or opening hours on the list we captured.
Catch: The listing is script-rendered and its ticket links go to Moshtix, so re-check the list for changes before you buy.
Cafe Gummo — 711 High Street, Thornbury VIC 3071
Cafe Gummo’s site says it hosts live music of all genres, from local punk bands to experimental noise shows and regular drag performances, up to six nights a week. Its hours read Tues - Fri 5pm till late and Sat-Sun 3pm till late, with no closing time stated. The site says the kitchen closes at midnight and snack rolls are available all night. Its menu prints Sausage at $15 under pierogi, which are Polish dumplings.

Gig nights: The site gives a count of nights rather than a fixed schedule, so use its gig listing for dates.
Odos Tsimiski Greek Restaurant — 439 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Odos Tsimiski is a Greek restaurant first, and its own site says weekends feature soul-stirring live music. Its own-site hours read Friday 5pm till 12am, Saturday 5pm till 1am and Sunday 5pm till 11pm. The AGFG listing shows different hours, so we have used the venue’s own. We did not find named acts or set times.
Gig nights: The site points to weekends, and it has Book a Table and Order Online buttons if you want to pair a table with the music.
Darebin Arts Centre — 401 Bell Street, Preston VIC 3072
The council describes a fully equipped proscenium arch theatre seating 385 people, with full fly-tower and orchestral pit. It also lists a renovated foyer with a reception desk and a refurbished bar, and 136 free onsite car parking spaces including four accessible parking spaces. The council says the centre is open to the public for ticketed performances and events. We did not capture a programme.
Capacity / stage: The council lists a theatre seating 385 people, which makes this a seated room rather than a standing band room.
Zircon Restaurant & Bar — 240 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Zircon is a restaurant and bar, and AGFG’s feature tags for it include Live Music alongside Fully Licensed and Online Ordering. We could not find which nights or which acts. The hours in the site’s own data are only a weekend block, and AGFG shows different days, so confirm before you go. The site banner said it was not accepting online orders and asked people to call.
Catch: AGFG tags live music but names no acts or nights that we could find, so ask the venue what is on.
Wesley Anne — 250 High Street, Northcote VIC 3070
Wesley Anne’s site says its week of free live music is looking pretty tasty, with live in the Front Bar from 6pm. Its page also names a Band Room, where Wednesday trivia is printed beside a Pie & Pot special at $26.99. The site lists Monday - Sunday: 12pm - Late, with kitchen hours of Sunday - Thursday 12 pm - 9pm and Fri & Sat 12pm - 9:30 pm.
