Correction (3 October 2026): an earlier version of this page listed places and details we could not stand behind. It has been rewritten from scratch: every place below was confirmed at two independent sources on 3 October 2026, and every price was copied from the page it was published on.
The list is brief, and that is deliberate. Only two places passed our checks for bakeries, bakery cafes and sweet shops in and around Truganina, so that is all you get. One is in Truganina. The other is in Tarneit Central, a short drive away, so read this as “in and around” the suburb.
Both are sorted by what they publish: opening hours, a menu line, and where a price is printed, the price. Where a page printed no price, we say so rather than guess. It is a sweet-or-savoury split in the end, and the two places take different lanes.

Baba Sweets Truganina — Shop 12-13/211 Leakes Rd, Truganina VIC 3029
Baba Sweets’ own site describes “Authentic Indian Sweets & Pure Vegetarian Cuisine” and carries the line “100% VEGETARIAN”. It also says “we also offer a selection of vegan-friendly options”, and that “Most menu items are available for takeaway”. The contact page prints “Open Monday to Sunday 9.00 am to 9.00 pm”, but that is one line shared by all the Baba Sweets stores and the Australian Good Food Guide lists different hours, so confirm with the shop before you drive over.
The two printed prices are both thalis. A thali is a set platter: a few small dishes and bread or rice served together on one plate.

Degani (Tarneit Central) — Shop 7B, 540 Derrimut Road, Tarneit VIC 3029
Degani is in Tarneit, not Truganina. The Tarneit Central shopping centre lists it as “Degani Bakery Cafe”, and Degani’s own page says “Sumptuous meals and delicate pastries and treats are available all day from your local Degani Cafe.” The same page says meals are available “for breakfast, lunch and dinner”.
Degani’s Tarneit page lists 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Wednesday and on the weekend, and 8:00am to 8:00pm on Thursday and Friday. The centre’s own page lists different Thursday-to-Sunday hours, so check before a late or weekend visit. We copied no price for Degani: its Tarneit page links a PDF menu and an online ordering app, and we did not take prices from either, so we print no amount here.
Go for: the pastry line, going by Degani’s own words about “delicate pastries and treats”, and ask the counter what it is serving that day.
