One Japanese place had enough on the public record for us to stand behind it, so this is a one-entry page and it does not pretend otherwise. It is Sushi Hinode, a food court shop in Wyndham Village Shopping Centre in Tarneit. That is outside Truganina, so read this as Japanese food in and around Truganina.

Sushi Hinode’s site says: “Find us inside the Wyndham Village Shopping Centre in Tarneit in the food court area near Aldi”. The same site invites you to “Order Online Now for Pickup!” and states that “All meats served at Hinode is certified Halal.” We did not check that certification ourselves; it is the shop’s own statement.
The site lists hours of 7:30am-5:30pm from Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-7pm on Friday and 7:30am-5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. The menu page lists items with prices and says they are subject to change, so treat the prices below as a guide; the home page also links a PDF menu.
The menu describes the gyoza (6 pcs) as chicken dumplings with a special dipping sauce, priced at $8. It lists a sushi combo of 4 pcs nigiri plus 4 pcs sushi roll at $14, and a sushi roll combo of 10pcs inside-out sushi at $13. The chicken katsu is described as a bread crumbed fried chicken breast at $12. Two bigger items are on the menu too: teriyaki chicken on rice at $15 and a bento A at $21, described as crispy chicken, salmon sashimi, gyoza and rice.

Decoder: nigiri is a slice of fish or another topping pressed onto a small mound of rice, and an inside-out roll puts the rice on the outside of the seaweed; the sushi combo at $14 gives you one of each format.
How to order: the shop’s site offers online pickup, so the quickest route is to read the menu page first, then place the order online.
Order this first: the gyoza (6 pcs) at $8 is the cheapest of the four items we copied, and the menu describes it as chicken dumplings, so it works as a low-risk first order.
