Free first: this page lists three parks, a council library lounge and a second library. Four of the five are in Truganina. The Julia Gillard Library is in Tarneit, so read this as free things in and around the suburb.
A word on what “free” means here. The libraries publish free membership and free wifi, and the council page for Alcock Road Reserve lists its playground, BBQ facilities and toilet for community use with no fee stated. For Forsyth Park and Whitfield Court Park we have the facilities but no statement about cost either way, so check before you go.

Alcock Road Reserve — 73 Alcock Road, Truganina VIC 3029
The council describes Alcock Road Reserve as “a large multi-sport facility managed by Wyndham City Council”. Its venue page lists the playground, BBQ facilities and a public toilet as “other facilities available at the reserve for non-exclusive use by the community”, alongside soccer pitches, tennis courts and cricket ovals. Wyndham TV reports a dog off-leash park at the reserve with “a large fenced lawn area featuring double gates”. Find a Dog Park tags it as fenced, with an agility course, a water tap and bins. The council venue page does not mention the dog park, so treat the dog park details as coming from those two sources.

Forsyth Park — Cnr Silverbrush Way and Perennial Drive, Truganina VIC 3029
Find a Dog Park lists Forsyth Park as fenced, with toilets and bins, and describes “a circular fenced area (about 50m in diameter) which is grassy but has some worn down areas which can be muddy when wet”. Melbourne Playgrounds says “the playground has a lot of facilities to keep family members of all ages occupied”. Both listings name Wyndham City Council as the manager, but we did not read a council page for this park. The address is a corner, not a street number.
Get there: head for the corner of Silverbrush Way and Perennial Drive, and use the PTV journey planner for the route, because we have no stop on record for it.
Truganina Library Lounge — 1 Everton Road, Truganina VIC 3029
The Library Lounge sits inside the Truganina Community Centre. The council page lists “Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 10am-6pm”, and the council’s libraries page asks “Have you signed up for your free membership yet?” Facilities include four public access internet computers, printing, scanning and photocopying, self-service payments and free wifi. The council says the lounge has a collection of 5000 books and runs programs for all ages, including Rhyme Time, English Conversation, Film Club and Art Lab. The council page says it is closed on public holidays, and names Tuesday 3 November 2026 as one of them. The page states wifi but does not mention power points.
Rain backup: this is the indoor option on the page, open Monday to Friday 10am-6pm per the council.
Whitfield Court Park — 10 Whitfield Court, Truganina VIC 3029
The Melbourne Playgrounds listing, “Whitfield Court Playground, Truganina”, describes a structure with two slides, a tunnel, a shop front, a spiral ladder, a small hanging ladder, a walkway, an abacus and a steering wheel, plus swings. The listing is the source for the address and the equipment. OpenStreetMap carries the park by name only. We have no toilets or BBQ on record for it, so do not count on either.
Plan it: a playground stop built around the swings and the structure above, with the library as the wet-weather swap.
Julia Gillard Library Tarneit — 150 Sunset Views Boulevard, Tarneit VIC 3029
This one is in Tarneit, outside Truganina, attached to the Tarneit Community Learning Centre. The council lists the hours as “Monday - Thursday : 9am - 8pm Friday : 9am - 6pm Saturday : 10am - 4pm Sunday : 1:30pm - 5pm”. Its facilities include a silent study room, a group study room, 24 public access computers, printing, scanning and photocopying, self-service payments and the Wyndham Seed Library. The council page also says “Join us for Baby Time in branch.”, and the council’s libraries page carries the same free membership line. It is closed on public holidays, including Tuesday 3 November 2026. The page does not mention wifi, so we make no remote-work claim for it.
Plan it: Monday to Thursday gives the longest window, 9am - 8pm, and Sunday the shortest, 1:30pm - 5pm.
